Senate Bill 843 criminalizes the private transfer of firearms. Sponsored by Lautenberg (D - NJ). Notably, it is co-sponsored by Kirsten Gillibrand (D - NY), who tried to pass herself off as pro-gun. Suggested text to send to your representatives: -------------------------------------------------------------- Totally OPPOSED to S. 843 As a registered voter and your constituent, I wish to inform you of my opposition to Senator Lautenberg's proposed legislation (S843) to criminalize the lawful and private transfer of firearms (the deceitfully named "gun show loophole"). Where do you stand on the private transfer of firearms, and what action will you take to ensure that this legislation never sees the light of day, so that I can advise my family, friends, and acquaintances regarding your commitment to the Constitution? Respectfully, [YOUR NAME] [ADDRESS] -------------------------------------------------- Go to www.theorator.com/senate.html , find your Senator(s) (BOTH of them) contact info and get an email or a FAX or a phone call out to them TODAY. If we can bury this thing in protest before it gathers any steam - or any more "co-sponsors" - we can probably nip it in-the-bud. I also seriously suggest that ANY of you who have either Lautenberg or Gillibrand as your Senator to light them up with an outraged email/FAX and let them know that you will be ACTIVELY working to DEFEAT them come next election-time. And then - make sure you do that. Pete www.alarmandmuster.com/Home.html

I sent out an "Alert" to my members about this, in case they don't read it on the forum. I'd suggest all other State P.O.C.'s do the same. Pete

I got generic replies from both my non-representing representatives which did not even close to addressing the issue. Typical form letter so that they can say they didn't get back to you. Pfffftttt!!!

This is a complete (so far) list of the co-sponsors for this bill - check it and see if YOUR Senator is on there.
If so CONTACT them with your displeasure and REMIND them of the upcoming election that YOU'LL be voting in! Pete

Mine haven't replied to me yet. I haven't heard anything from my rino senator (voinovich) since he announced he isn't running for re-election, around November. I haven't heard from the dem senator of mine about this particular issue but it usually takes him about a week to respond, even if it isn't what I want to hear, but he does reply, and it usually ends with me telling him he is wrong and I dare him to defend his position, and of course he can't.

Neither of my senators respond to anything i say, which could be because most of what i say to them is telling them to vote the exact opposite way of what they are doing. Every now and again i'll send one of them an attaboy for getting a vote right (roughly 1 out of every 100 or so)

It doesn't matter if they reply - or if they agree/disagree if they DO reply. You can bet SOMEONE in their offices is keeping track of the remarks, pro and con. Only when OUR remarks and positions reach "critical mass" can we hope to see a result. This can, of course, be hurried along by promises (in your emails and fax'es) to not only WATCH for how they vote - but to "call" them on it in a followup email/fax after any particular vote.
Assure them that - if they voted the RIGHT way - that you're happy with that.
If they vote the WRONG way, express your disappointment in no un-certain terms and tell them that not ONLY will you NOT vote for them come next election - you will actually WORK AGAINST their re-election in your town and through your contacts with friends, family and co-workers.
And then actually DO that!
Thanks for responding! Our voice and our vote are what we have to fight with before things get "real". Pete

You're exactly right Pete. Sen. Feinstein from Kalifornia, mentioned in her testimony, or just a floor rant about the thousands of people who had called her office to come out against the bailouts. So they do pay some attention that they are recieving letters and calls. In her case though, she said the people were mis-guided and mis-informed regarding said bailouts. Did I mention her hubby, Richard Blum got a contract to sell foreclosed properties at a higher compensation rate than usual? After she routed $25 billion to the agency that gave her hubby the contract, FDIC. washingtontimes.com/news/2009/apr/21/senate-husbands-firm-cashes-in-on-crisis/ Sorry, not trying to highjack the thread.
