The ACLU said MSP has used the devices to access information from cellphones that officers ask drivers they have pulled over to give them. Read More: www.clickondetroit.com/news/27564088/detail.html

"I do not give consent for any search. I will not answer any questions or interrogatories. I DO NOT surrender any of my Constitutional Rights. Am I free to go?"
...seems pretty simple to me...

Being here in MI. & subject to my Fourth Amendment being violated, first the MI. SP just has to be by you & your phone. They need not physically have to have it.
Second, our State Sen. & Congress's phones has been ringing off the hooks I'm told demanding that they put a stop to it immediately.
We are in a Police State It all needs to stop now, as a Veteran I understand my Oath as many of you do.

I think I'll text myself 2 or 3 times a day with "F*** you, pig!". If they wanna peek, might as well give them something to see.

If you think you are being monitored try this Get you an Ammo can. Line it with aluminum foil. Turn on your phone. Call someone who is known to be in the Militia. (This needs to be pre arranged face to face) Tell them you have some new intel that is dynamite. Then in the middle of the call turn it off, remove the battery, and put the phone in the Ammo can and shut the lid for the weekend. If you are of interest there should be an agent in a car up the street in less than an hour. go to Walmart or some large shopping area and look around and get groceries. Go home and watch TV. STAY OFF THE COMPUTER! Sleep well knowing that you are producing a S___ load of overtime. What if 200 to 400 groups did this every weekend. Especially on weekends with big games or races. they would find some way to get you off the list so thy could have some family quality time.

I like it... When they started bringing Carnivore (later the DCS1000) and Echelon monitoring programs online. we would copy and paste entire key word lists and email them all over the country. Our thought was to keep 'em hopping until it wore 'em out. My State Sen. sent me this new press release.
Use of Cell Phone Data Extraction Devices April 20, 2011 LANSING. Recent news coverage prompted by a press release issued by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) has brought speculation and caused inaccurate information to be reported about data extraction devices (DEDs) owned by the Michigan State Police (MSP). To be clear, there have not been any allegations of wrongdoing by the MSP in the use of DEDs. The MSP only uses the DEDs if a search warrant is obtained or if the person possessing the mobile device gives consent. The department’s internal directive is that the DEDs only be used by MSP specialty teams on criminal cases, such as crimes against children. The DEDs are not being used to extract citizens’ personal information during routine traffic stops. The MSP does not possess DEDs that can extract data without the officer actually possessing the owner’s mobile device. The DEDs utilized by the MSP cannot obtain information from mobile devices without the mobile device owner knowing. Data extraction devices are commercially available and are routinely utilized by mobile communication device vendors nationwide to transmit data from one device to another when customers upgrade their mobile devices. These DEDs have been adapted for law enforcement use due to the ever-increasing use of mobile communication devices by criminals to further their criminal activity and have become a powerful investigative tool used to obtain critical information from criminals. Since 2008, the MSP has worked with the ACLU to narrow the focus, and thus reducing the cost, of its initial Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request. To date, the MSP has fulfilled at least one ACLU FOIA request on this issue and has several far-lower cost requests awaiting payment to begin processing. The MSP provides information in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act. As with any request, there may be a processing fee to search for, retrieve, review, examine, and separate exempt material, if any. The implication by the ACLU that the MSP uses these devices “quietly to bypass Fourth Amendment protections against unreasonable searches” is untrue, and this divisive tactic unjustly harms police and community relations. # # # Contact: Tiffany Brown, MSP Public Affairs, (517) 241-0970

Sounds like we ALL need to call and make it clear that in this country, it is a violation of the constitution no matter what state you live in, this would make them aware that the rest of the nation is watching them too, ANY VIOLATION, regardless of size or intent, or location, is wrong and should/must be met head on with no give, and no negotiation!!!!!!

Some friends and I heard about the NSA monitoring phone calls for key words. We would go to a pay phone, where gloves, dial a phone at the dorm, or library. Then we would talk about seeing the PRESIDENT of some club on campus, getting BOMBED, and TAKEN OUT of the room. I don't know if they spent time checking phone booths near the campus at UK, but we hoped they did.
