The National Right to Carry Reciprocity Act Of 2011Congressmen Cliff Stearns (R-Fla.) and Heath Shuler (D-N.C.) have introduced vital legislation that will enable millions of permit holders to exercise their right to self-defense while traveling outside their home states. www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/2703817/posts?page=1
As usual the NRA puts their sorry asses smack dab on the wrong side of an issue... although this may sound like a great idea, it will actually gut the Second Amendment in the end. Anyone that supports legislation such as this, ESPECIALLY with the Feds pushing it, is pitifully foolish to the nth degree. This WILL turn into a registration program... mark my words! The Feds have been looking for a way to control the movement of personal weapons for many years... and that is why this legislation "pops" up every single cycle, DO NOT BE FOOLED as to their intentions and end game! You do not want the Feds "regulating" what is a Natural Right, play with fire and you are gonna get burned.

I sent LaPierre a message back stating exactly what you said Don. We already have a 50 State carry permit in the Second Amendment.
What the NRA should be pushing for is to get the Second recognized as a "privilege and immunity" of a US Citizen.
We wouldn't even have needed that had a senile Marshall ruled as he should have in Marbury V Madison instead of how he did. That one decision gutted Federalism and set us on the path to a National government that is bound by no real stricture on it's powers.

Just got through writing my Rep on the issue...
Representative,
It was brought to my attention today, that you are a co-sponsor of H.R. 822, The National Right to Carry Reciprocity Act Of 2011.
I feel that you are misguided in your support of this legislation; the Second Amendment already protects our right to move freely around the country with our weapons.
The Federal Government has absolutely no reason to insert themselves into an obvious States’ Rights issue… Frankly it is NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS what a citizen does with their Second Amendment Rights; the States already have Reciprocal agreements with each other concerning the carry of weapons within their boundaries, so the Federal Government needs to butt out!
The only reason the Federal Government would be trying to insert its self into this constitutionally protected issue is to gain control of this “Natural Right.
With this bill, the Government is already attempting “regulate” the carry of weapons in and between the States. At a later date, for “safety and standardization”, the Federal Government will have to issue its own cards. Can’t happen? The Federal Government is still trying to push REALID/PASSID on the states… another blatantly unconstitutional action.
Once the Federal Government has control over issuing a citizens “Right to Carry” card, a government bureaucrat could “suspend” and/or out-right remove a citizen’s Second Amendment Rights through “regulation”.
I urge you to re-think your support of this bill and remove your name from it.
Regards,

The above letter was shamelessly stolen and emailed to Jeff Miller. No Probs... Any such letter that I post can be used as is or modified and sent by whoever needs a template, that's why I cleaned it up and made it generic.
