If TSHTF one of the first thing to do is rob your local gun shops of all their records if the ATF or whoever hasn't already confisticated all the records! I don't reccommend stealing anything but the paper work to protect our fellow gun owners. If they don't know who has them it will be much harder to find them and if TSHTF they'll be looking! It may not help as I'm guessing that when the FFL calls the info background check in it is put on record. With SPORTSMANS WAREHOUSE closing, where are all of their records going?

IMO, if TSHTF, those paper records at the local gun store would be the least of your concerns. Besides that, your info already went to the feds when they ran the NICS check to make the purchase, so I doubt it matters much. I would recommend staying well away from any gun shops if TSHTF as they are likely to be well guarded places.

When TSHTF the first thing to do is activate your emergency plan and protect your family/ community or bug out. Not wast time raiding every gun shop you see your info is already compromised, this is not the 1960's - computers record everything..

In NC, with a CCL, gun sellers don't have to make that phone call. All a purchaser has to do is fill out the paperwork.
There also is no limit on how many handguns one may purchase.

But do they run the check when you get your CCL? I'm assuming they do. CCL training is at a commercial range. You get a certificate. Certificate goes to your Sheriff who fingerprints you and does a background check. If all is GO you get your CCL in approximately three months. CCL in hand, walk into any gun shop and buy to your heart's content. No phone calls. Just the federal paperwork. Without a CCL, you may purchase up to 5 handgun permits at a time. They are good for 5 years. They are $5 apiece. Buy a handgun, fill out the paperwork, gun shop calls the spooks with your SSN. Agreeably, you get to purchase a new handgun or 5.

And, as it is in every other state I know of, the local authorities have your CCW endorsement status on file as well. In a nutshell, it's pretty self evident that there are plenty of local and national records out there already, and trying to destroy records at a gun store would be pretty much pointless, not to mention illegal.

There are ways. Move, don't update registrations, private sales at gun shows, roll your own... redhotgundeals.com/www.thehomegunsmith.com/In a work of patriot fiction I read, the only gunshop in the hero's podunk little town had an electrical fire the way before the troops rolled into town. But I wouldn't worry about destroying records from every gunshop you've done business with. Those are parts of town I intend to avoid if the balloon goes up.

Somehow I feel the s. will htf really slowly, in ammo costs and decreased supplies which we are seeing now. It won't take long, and we'll all be feeling it. I'm searching every day for more ammo, and finding it but at ever increasing prices. Bought 300 rounds of 9mm WWB today for $90.00 Keep up the search.

I think robbing a gun store of anything would be monumentally stupid.
We all have our concerns about future disposition of used 4473 forms, but the truth of the matter is the gov't does not have the resources to dig through them and compile a list of doors to break down. If they were to undertake such a mission, it's more likely they would simply break down all doors.
A more likely scenario involving abuse of FFL records would be to audit compliance of a turn them in type gun ban, and concerned individuals would have by then received all the clues they need to act as they deemed in their particular case.
I got tired of the whole gun thing and sold them all. The only thing I have is this rusty old (xx) nobody wanted, and you're welcome to it. God bless you, working so hard to keep us safe. Would you like a cup of coffee?

clinging - I totally agree - it sounds like an extremely good way to get shot by one of our own.
A much better suggestion might have been for the gunshop owners to destroy the records THEMSELVES and blame it on rioters/looters. Pete

This is what is so great about having a group of like minded people gathering together. Being able to bounce ideas around and get GOOD feedback. I will try to talk to my local dealers and see if they can set up "self destruct" for their files. Your thoughts are greatly appreciated and make good sense! HHB
