Constitutional Carry Plainly Explained and DefendedWednesday, March 23rd, 2011 at 4:47 PM, By Richard Church It is an absolute certainty that before the current legislative session is complete, a concealed carry law will be passed and the governor will sign it. Such legislation has passed the legislature before, but has always fallen victim to the governor’s veto pen. Not this time around. But what kind of concealed carry law will we have? For many, it seems, there is a disconnect between the rights asserted in the First Amendment and rights asserted in the Second. No state requires a permit to exercise the freedom of religion. You do not have to go to the government, prove that you meet the legal requirements, and receive permission to invite a group of friends to your home. You cannot be jailed or fined for exercising your freedom of speech without a permit. As a society, we are fiercely protective of our rights to freedom of religion, speech, press and assembly. However, we are far too quick to make concessions on the right to keep and bear arms. What Is Constitutional Carry? Unfortunately Don, gun owners and their "benevolent benefactor" (NRA) have allowed "common sense" gun laws to go forward with the mistaken belief that if we allow TPTB to place certain restrictions upon our rights that they will not seek an outright ban. What have they been thinking?? I cannot fathom how that thinking made sense EVER, but hey, I wasn't around when these liberty robbing usurpations began. But I know I will be in the fight for as long as my lungs hold breath to stem the theft of our sacred freedoms. The part that truly baffles me is that the Second Amendment is very clear, SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED!!! Why has that been so hard for folks even in our own community to understand?? SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED means EXACTLY that. To think that those of past generations whom shed blood to protect our freedoms would have allowed such egregious restrictions such as the National Firearms Act of 1934 is beyond me. The Second Amendment was our only guarantee against a tyrannical government for it was written to protect our rights to possess the same arms that TPTB would use against us. I believe that the Second Amendment is the only documentation we SHOULD need to carry a firearm, but sadly that is not our reality so we must continue to jump through their hoops as long as they let us. Eventually things may well, probably will, come to a tipping point and then we will see exactly how important our rights really are to us and what lengths folks will go to to keep them. I know there has been a change in attitude and direction among the citizenry back to the Constitution, but little work is required now to be active, all one has to do is talk, type on the internet, attend a tea party rally, or call or write your "elected" usurpers. Let's see what happens when a move is actually made. I unfotunately just do not have that much faith in the vast majority of our citizens.

But I know I will be in the fight for as long as my lungs hold breath to stem the theft of our sacred freedoms. The left moved with slow deliberation, they spread the usurpation over many decades, but we are gaining momentum... too late? hope not. As you stated, I am also in for the duration and I believe there is a large number of citizens that believe as we do... We are Everywhere!
