Gun Control in AmericaWritten by Jeremy Sandberg, Tuesday, 11 May 2010 04:54 Have guns become obsolete in American life, possibly an ugly reminder of violence and war? Should we grant our elected representatives the power to remove them from the public at large? That is the question that Americans have faced throughout our country's history, and will continue to face for the foreseeable future. I do not think so, and can prove that it was the intent of our founding fathers to safeguard our right to arm and defend ourselves, our families and our personal property. There are many who would disagree with me, for a variety of reasons. I concede the existence of well intentioned individuals, who honestly feel that there is no right to bear arms. While I disagree with their opinion, I can respect both it, and them. The people who I find troubling are those who seek to achieve their goal of a disarmed public through deception. They would strip American citizens of their firearms through the legislative process against their will. I would argue that any gun control by our federal government is, by its very existence, un-Constitutional. The federal government of the United States has no legal right to legislate and exercise gun control over its citizenry. Where do American citizens get the right to "keep and bear arms" is a question that I have heard many people ask, from both sides of this contentious issue. To answer this question, we must first turn to the United States Constitution, and it's Second Amendment... Continue Reading: www.rightsidenews.com/2010051110138/editorial/gun-control-in-america.html

I feel the folks with this opinion are not worthy of respect because they have not educated themselves about how and why our Founders assured that certain UNALIENABLE were not to be infringed! These folks are as bad as the scumbags that want to take all of our firearms. I have no tolerance for anyone whom thinks they can restrict any one's GOD given rights!
I'm sick of these go along to get along politicians, so called citizens and supposedly pro- gun groups. The time to take a stand for our rights is now, for if we don't demand no compromise representatives we shall fall onto the ash heap of history.

Yea stoner, to many people are of the missinformed opinion that the government and a piece of paper gives us rights. They are God given, and the piece of paper and government were instituted to protect those rights. Hence the reason for negative liberites written into it.. this .gov CAN NOT do. But.. alas people who think that they are .gov given rights.. are the reason its so easy for them to take them from us.

I'll agree with you to a certain extent stoner. If the person of that opinion is around 30 or older I have no respect for them because they have been in the world long enough to learn this on their own. The younger ones I'll try to convert because of all the BS that's been fed to them growing up in public ed and that's where the real problem comes in.

Yes, and Bastiat in The Law also calls them natural rights. www.namsouth.com/viewtopic.php?t=2366&highlight=bastiat"Ah, you miserable creatures! You who think that you are so great! You who judge humanity to be so small! You who wish to reform everything! Why don’t you reform yourselves? That task would be sufficient enough.”
“See if the law takes from some persons what belongs to them, and gives it to other persons to whom it does not belong. See if the law benefits one citizen at the expense of another by doing what the citizen himself cannot do without committing a crime.”
"When plunder becomes a way of life for a group of men living together in society, they create for themselves in the course of time a legal system that authorizes it and a moral code that glorifies it."

A gun is nothing more than a tool. No different than a fire extinguisher to put out a fire in a home, even though we have fire departments throughout the United States. Protecting your family is your duty
We hear that argument so much, and one I use which usually results in blank faces. "The reason I have a gun in my home is the same reason I have a fire extinguisher, I hope I don't have to use them, but you better have both of them if they become necessary."

Don't forget that some of these people who disregard these rights (as in the late teens and early to mid twenties) HAVEN'T BEEN TAUGHT WHAT THESE RIGHTS ARE! They are brought up in the federal ed dept. learning that our founders were racists and that the constitution doesn't mean what it says. It takes time and real life experience away from the liberal lifestyle to get these people to learn otherwise. They also need mentors that understand. Don't just label them all as commies, TEACH THEM what this country was founded to be. After you try teaching them IF they aren't willing to accept the fact that 99% of what they are taught in school is lies then walk away and leave them to their stupidity.

What I find most disturbing in that article is only 5% could answer basic questions about the Constitution and Bill of Rights. If we do not exercise a right. It is a lost right. It is easy to take something away from someone if they don't know they have it.
