First mistake. This po-bucker was under no obligation to self-incriminate. He could have just asked the officer, "Is there anything else I can help you with officer? Am I free to go?"
Second mistake. Get it on the cops recorder that you do not consent to a search. Do not resist. But make it clear you are claiming your right to object. It WILL make a difference later when this gets to court.
By admitting he had firearms, he set himself up for "probable cause". The sticker alone is not enough.

I agree that he should have just kept his mouth shut. I have a CHL so if I'm pulled over with my weapon on me I HAVE to tell the cops when they reach my vehicle. If I didn't have a CHL, I wouldn't tell them squat, weapon or not. A good attorney can still probably get him off because it was an illegal stop, as long as the video shows no motor vehicle infractions. And technically speaking, CCW laws and other gun laws are usurpations of the Second Amendment anyway.I would have played it like that guy at the inland border patrol checkpoint I saw the video of.

I may have mentioned it before, but......after the Ron Paul worker fiasco at the airport, I bought a pen video/audio recorder which stays in my shirt pocket along with another pen. There are cheaper ones, but I decided on one that was around $100 since it looked normal, had a one year warranty with phone support. It takes surprisingly good pictures, although the audio is the most important. Irregardless of whether or not it is legal, I intend to turn it on if I deem appropriate. If something does happen which is beyond the pale, then I will have a record, and as happened recently when a man taped a drunk police officer in a bar, the DA said that charging the video taker with anything at all was the furthest thing from his mind after viewing the inappropriate behavior of the cop.
