At least one government agency- The Social Security Administration - is warning employees that even browsing Wikileaks could be a criminal offense. The Review has revceived a copy of an email sent to staffers with the subject line, "Information Security Bulletin: WIKILEAKS." Here's the threat: "Earlier this year a large amount of United States government classified information was illegally released to the public website WIKILEAKS. The documents on WIKILEAKS could place military personnel and United States supporters in Iraq and Afghanistan at an increased risk of harm. (I'm calling bullshit on that)"Despite these documents being publicly accessible over the internet, the documents remain classified and SSA employees should not access, download, or transmit them. Individuals may be subject to applicable federal criminal statutes for unlawful access to or transmission of classified information." prorevnews.blogspot.com/2010/11/government-agency-warns-employees-that.htmlIt's all public domain now....there is no expectation of privacy once it's posted.
The fact that lies for the last 40+ years are being exposed is disturbing to some. I find it akin to cockroaches scuttling from a light.
I am actually finding myself aligned with the "progressives" on this issue. If openness and honesty are frowned upon, and censorship by the Federal gov't is ok, I must be in the wrong country.

Openness is always a good thing. I mean we don't need launch codes or the specifics of our nuclear arsenal or even our weaknesses.
But we must force our .gov to stand up and accept the responsibility for their actions. We have played ringleader of the world for far too long. Now it is all catching up with us. All that is said in secret will eventually come out.
It is my opinion that the gov has used the fcc rules and threats of pulling a license to muzzle our media. Media is suppose to be a separate watchdog of things. Unfortunately incremental steps have been taken so that the media has to comply with the gov and its wishes. Sadly most will not stand up and report the truth and to be honest I am unsure if the masses of sheeple could handle the truth.
We for the most part have become a nation of slaves. We do not have the chains on us at this time but they are being forged as we speak. Now is the time for us to stand up and tear down the forge and run the blacksmith away. Or our children and grandchildren will look at us and ask what freedom and liberty was.

Yeah, that's the irony of this situation. The same conservative pundits that cry out for transperancy, smaller gov't and make note of the fact of gov't corruption are pissed about this. I'm kind of glad. I don't want battle plans posted or confidential sources of intel named but to an extent this is a good thing. This should create an enviroment where gov't intelligence should shrink to protect itself. That, I think is a good thing. I hope he gets the info about the banks out before they get him.

I was always harping on the "over-classification" of information from waaaaaaaay back, early into my military career.
When you classify everything this is what happens... (wikileaks)
As they classify everything, the government finds it easier to "bend" or obfuscate the facts rather than be upfront, once they find they can just classify something and bury it... that is when the corruption and misdeeds follow.
Politicians can use the "classification" system for power, wealth and prestige.
90% of what is now "classified" should not be, Transparency of government is what will keep the Republic strong.
