Collecting rainwater now illegal in many states as Big Government claims ownership over our water"It's all about control, really"Monday, July 26, 2010, By Mike Adams, the Health Ranger Editor of NaturalNews.com (See all articles...) (NaturalNews) Many of the freedoms we enjoy here in the U.S. are quickly eroding as the nation transforms from the land of the free into the land of the enslaved, but what I'm about to share with you takes the assault on our freedoms to a whole new level. You may not be aware of this, but many Western states, including Utah, Washington and Colorado, have long outlawed individuals from collecting rainwater on their own properties because, according to officials, that rain belongs to someone else. As bizarre as it sounds, laws restricting property owners from "diverting" water that falls on their own homes and land have been on the books for quite some time in many Western states. Only recently, as droughts and renewed interest in water conservation methods have become more common, have individuals and business owners started butting heads with law enforcement over the practice of collecting rainwater for personal use. They must really be smoking the good stuff if they think I would allow them to stop me collecting rain water landing ON MY OWN PROPERTY.

Unelected bureaucrats yield vast power & are enabled to promote their own ideology whilst they are squirreled away in those myriads of nests within most every State & Federal Agency.
The next tax the EPA is seeking to impose will be on the volume of rainwater that sheds from your rooftop since they claim it eventually runs off into waterways they are responsible for.

As we all know, this has everything to do with control.
I am sick of having government in my car, bathroom, kitchen, medicine cabinet, bank account, medical business, and my wallet. Just to name a few. Now they want to get on my roof and into my rain barrel. They're looking to tax those of us who use woodstoves as well.

They already do, I was in Iowa about 8 years ago and heard they tax land owners for the amount of runoff from rain. My father-in-law is a smart man. Some years ago, the county came through with what they call "tax-diches", where there are ditches around everyone's property to catch the run-off from their fields. My FIL refused the county access to his land. If hhe had agreed to the tax0ditches, it gives the county access to his land. And THAT is why he refused. (An argument ensued with one of the county workers, who happens to be a neighbor farmer on the county council. The neighbor grabbed my FIL's cane and threatened my FIL. Charges were filed and with the "pull" our neighbor has, the judge dismissed charges). Over-all, the ditches are around everyone's farms except ours. Now if you look at all the ponds around here, they are green algae-filled. Alot of chemical run-off. Our pond is clear and sparkling clean water and stocked. My 1 year old grand daughter got her first Bass last week. I just gotta show her off..... I just don't see no official taking steps on this land. M FIL is tough cookie! Our sign says "We don't call 911". (Alive or dead) Attachments:

The next tax the EPA is seeking to impose will be on the volume of rainwater that sheds from your rooftop since they claim it eventually runs off into waterways they are responsible for. I have been paying this tax here for the past three years. It is a runoff tax that they charge per square foot of roof, paved driveway and sidewalk. They arbitrarily compute what they think is your square footage based on what they think is the norm and add it onto the yearly property tax. The bad part is that the average house is bigger than mine and I do not have a paved driveway or sidewalk. It does no good to go to the courthouse and copmplain to the mental midgets working there. They use the same tactics as when I questioned the amount they charged me for property tax on my "on blocks for the past 6 years" 1964 IH Scout. I wondered why the tax was more than for my registered daily driver. They said "It's an Antique/collectable" and sent me to talk to Ms. stupid on the 3rd floor who was a clone of the idiot I just talked to so she sent me back to where I just came from. Aaaaaaagh!

There is a bill in the works for MI to charge for water usage from your own well. They have some wells being metered already near Traverse City. But it is just a test! (Right) Doesn't matter,I guess, if you own the mineral rights to your property or not! This is INSANITY!
The way I understand it, the efforts are from the Feds. (surprise surprise).
I say we starve the monkeys!

We do receive mineral rights, though from a 1/4 acre, I aint getting rich any time soon. THey did increase from 5 to 12 wells, I get almost 100.00 bucks a month, well the last one was over 500.00. I dont know if this will continue or if this was a one time bonus for the 7 additional new wells. Problem is they send me a bank draft I have to take to the bank and they mail it off and it takes almost 90 days to cash a stupid draft.

As I read the responses illustrating the vast amount of control the local & state agencies have over its residents the same conclusion forms in my mind:
1] a good majority of folks seldom show up for Town Hall meetings and public hearings to question the ordinances being proposed and demanding they be struck down!
2] a good majority of folks do not contact their Reps to voice their concern, opposition and even approval of what those Reps plan and vote upon.
The big problem is a preponderance of ignorant voters who continue to out-vote the more informed ones.

I'm not saying that water is a mineral. My thought is what is on my property is mine! Water, oil, gas, etc. If I choose to sell it, consume it, it is still mine! For the State or feds to tax me on something that belongs to me is ludicrous.
I have been self employed most of my life, until 5-6 yrs ago. The business tax here in MI is such that if I buy a tool this year, I pay tax on that tool every year hence forth. This happens not only to me but every legitimate business in MI. So is there any reason for businesses to stay in MI. It is the same deal with the water, I hired someone to put in a well on MY property, mineral or not, I paid them, they did there job, why should I be taxed on the consumption of that product?
