I'm still surprised how many people are slurping the Koolaid and believe that this current economic downturn is getting better in a few months. There are too many sectors of our economy that are too badly damaged and are operating in an unsustainable manner. Farming in general is nearly bankrupt due to the credit freeze and increasing cost of operation, the housing market which started the downhill slide is not at bottom yet, then you have a coming commercial real-estate crash, derivatives, bank collapses, small business credit freezes, and just wait until gas is $5 or higher a gallon again. Just like the quest speaker said, 'it won't be the end of the world', but it will without a doubt change ours. Most people I talk to look at news like this and say, oh there just trying to scare us, or , thats just too negative, why be so negative all the time, and everything will just be alright. I am a realist, which is an eternal optimist that has the wisdom to know the difference between fact, hope and blind faith. I would love to tell people that everything will go back the way it was, but that will never happen. I challenge everyone to do their own research on these topics. As long as we (individuals and government) are spending more than we earn, there will be a long term price to pay. We Americans have gotten used to a living on credit where the Chinese (and some other countries) were buying our debt in the form of bonds and treasuries but have stopped because even they have the wisdom to see that it can't continue like it was. Lastly, since the Chinese aren't buying the BS anymore, our own Federal Reserve is. That's king of like playing musical chairs except it's me and you that will be left without a place when the music stops.
Sorry for preachin' on the soap box, but folks better start waking up before there's nothing left. Stock up now, do not wait because it would suck to have to turn in your guns to get a MRE from FEMA only to have it stolen by criminals with guns on the way back to the camp. Just my .02

They see "green sprouts", but these came up from the massive printing of money, and they are going to die, because there is nothing left to water them with, and empty malls, lost of jobs, downward spiral of the housing market, will increase until the populace finally realizes that Hussein, is indeed, an avowed Marxist, and hopefully at that time, there will be sufficient backing to reclaim the Republic our forefathers fought and died for, as it would be criminal, to let their efforts go for nought. Right now, secession fever is spreading like wild fire. We shall see, as my mother would say.

I suppose the thing to do is plan for the worst and hope for the best. As they say, "Plan your work and work your plan".
