I just don't see it, I think the 'stats' are heavily skewed, I believe many citizens just will not tell the govt and/or the media sycophants that they own weapons due to the political climate. I have personally taught a number of firearms classes over the last 10 years where 2 thirds (or more) of the students had NEVER owned or even fired a firearm. And someone is going to try to convince me that a 'dwindling' population of gun owners(31%) is responsible for the non-stop RECORD SALES of firearms of every stripe?!... I call full B.S. on the premise of the story. Fact: Even as Gun Ownership Drops in US, Support for Gun Rights GrowsSunday, 19 Jun 2016 11:52 AM A look at gun ownership and attitudes about gun control in the United States: — Gun ownership has decreased among all age, race and gender groups since 1973. At its peak in that time frame, in 1977, 50.4 percent of households had guns. By 2014, just 31 percent of households did. www.newsmax.com/Newsfront/US-Divided-America-Guns/2016/06/19/id/734584/

Ha, told you the stats were B.S., and they still have absolutely NO clue as to the actual number of gun owners and the number of weapons that they own. I still believe they are vastly underestimating the true numbers for the reasons I stated above. Gun ownership is up in America. So why isn't the media telling you about it?
By John R. Lott Published September 08, 2016 FoxNews.com Two weeks ago, the PEW Research Center released a survey showing that gun ownership by households is up to 44% — a 7-percentage point increase in the past two years. Another 5% of households won’t reveal whether they own a gun. Yet, not a single mainstream American media headline has announced the increase. In fact, the media goes out of its way to find polls claiming that Americans are turning away from guns. In their War on Guns they want to give the impression that gun owners are a small, fringe group. Maybe they are hoping that this will have an impact on policy. As General Social Survey director Tom Smith told me, a large drop in gun ownership would “make it easier for politicians to do the right thing on guns.” www.foxnews.com/opinion/2016/09/08/gun-ownership-is-up-in-america-so-why-isnt-media-telling-about-it.html
