Record Gun Sales Continue Through MayThirteen straight months of gun sales recordsBY: Stephen Gutowski, June 6, 2016 1:10 pm The month of May saw yet another gun-related background check record making it the 13th month to see an all time high. The FBI completed a record 1,870,000 checks through the National Instant Criminal Background Check System, or NICS, this May, according to an agency report. That’s almost 300,000 more checks than May of 2015, which set a record at the time. It is also nearly a million more checks than May 2008. freebeacon.com/issues/record-gun-sales-continue-may/

Americans Continue to Buy Guns in Record NumbersPosted on June 14, 2016 by Dean Weingarten (Ammoland.com)- In 2016, Americans continue to break records for gun sales. While the National Instant Check System (NICS) does not track gun sales directly, the numbers are highly correlated. The numbers of NICS checks, and the increase in private firearms, have skyrocketed during the Obama administration. The total for 2016 through the end of May is 11,698,006 instant checks. That is more than the entire year of 2007, which held the record up to that year. Thus, during the Obama years, the number of private firearm sales has doubled. In 2015, the highest year on record, the total number of checks was 23,141,970. That is just a hair short of double the number done in 2007. 2016 is shaping up to break the 2015 record by millions of instant checks. In just the first five months of instant checks, the cumulative instant checks are more than half the total for all of the record breaking year of 2015... www.ammoland.com/2016/06/americans-continue-buy-guns-record-numbers/#axzz4BZseoaD6

Gun run shatters June record: FBI records 2.1M background checksBy Douglas Ernst, The Washington Times, Tuesday, July 5, 2016 FBI data for the month of June reflects a spike in gun sales that prompted roughly 2.1 million background checks. A June 12 terrorist attack in Orlando, Florida, and subsequent calls for new gun laws sent Americans to gun dealers in droves last month. The National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NCIS) processed roughly 600,000 documents more than in June 2015 and has reached records for 14 months in a row. NCIS notes that “varying state laws” make it impossible to conclude a one-to-one correlation between checks and sales, but the data still shows a sustained effort to acquire weapons prior to the imposition of new laws... www.washingtontimes.com/news/2016/jul/5/gun-run-shatters-june-record-fbi-records-21m-backg/

July Gun Sales Crush Previous RecordRecord gun sales streak continues unabatedBY: Stephen Gutowski, August 2, 2016 2:35 pm The number of gun-related background checks performed in July far exceeded those of any previous July, newly released numbers from the FBI show. The National Instant Criminal Background Check System, or NICS, processed nearly 2.2 million checks last month. That represents an increase of almost 600,000 checks over the previous record set last year. It is also an increase of more than a million checks over July 2011. The July record is the latest in a string of 15 record-setting months for firearm background checks. July also saw an increase over June’s numbers as the gun industry’s seasonal lull comes to an end. This calendar year, with more than 16 million checks on record thus far, remains on pace to break the NICS check record for a single year set in 2015. freebeacon.com/issues/july-gun-sales-crush-previous-record/

Hunting my ass, EVERYONE knows EXACTLY why gun and ammo sales are off the scale... Gun sales hit 17th straight monthly record, up 27 percentBy Rudy Takala, 10/3/16 5:11 PM Gun sales hit the 17th consecutive monthly record in September according to FBI data released on Monday, and overall sales are up 27 percent compared to the same period last year. A total of 1,992,219 background checks were processed through the bureau's National Instant Criminal Background Check System for the month of September, higher than the 1,795,102 conducted in September 2015. The number of checks run through the FBI's NICS system is a reliable indicator of how firearm sales are trending, though there is no precise correlation between the number of checks and the number of guns being sold. Licensed dealers are required to run a check in the database every time they make a sale, but sometimes turn buyers down. Sales have surged in the wake of ammunition shortages and fears that the Obama administration may seek to restrict Second Amendment rights in the president's waning days in office. Experts say the equipment being sold indicates interest has spiked out of growing interest in self-defense and hunting. www.washingtonexaminer.com/gun-sales-hit-17th-straight-record/article/2603496
