This keeps with the growing trend that the number of jobs held by foreign-born residents has steadily increased at a faster rate than the number of jobs held by U.S.- born residents since 2009. Since 1970, after Congress lifted immigration caps, the foreign-born population has increased by more than 325% while wages remain stagnant. In September nearly 40% of people in the U.S. ages 16 and older were not employed or looking for work. While many Americans are struggling to find work, Congress recently passed the omnibus spending bill that would quadruple H-2B visas increasing competition for low-skilled American workers.
