Guy called me up today asking advice on buying/building an AR, I asked why he is finally getting one as I told him I would assist a number of years ago, he said with everything that's going on domestically and internationally; it's time. He's a former Army dude, one of the guys in a specialized artillery battery that was tasked with 'closing' the Fulda Gap back during the height of the cold war. As I mentioned in another thread, I have met a number of people lately that are new gun owners or who are expanding their 'cache'. The law of unintended consequences be bitch-slappin the leftists turds upside da head

The local FFL dealer I use has been swamped since Thanksgiving time and he says a lot are first time gun owners and quite a few are female.

The NICS check is becoming irrelevant as a gauge, There has been a HUGE spike in people getting a carry permit, and because most states do not run a background check if you have a carry permit, thousands of purchases go uncounted by the Feds. Even if they run a background check, it doesn't count multiple weapons that may be purchased using the single check. Evidence suggests 2015 will be a record year for gun salesUpdated by Alvin Chang on December 27, 2015, 10:00 a.m. ET In 2015, the FBI will likely process a record number of background checks for people looking to buy guns and get permits. Background checks are a good proxy for measuring how gun sales are changing, even though one background check does not necessarily equal one gun. That said, the purpose of background checks has nothing to do with measuring sales. Rather, it is part of a 1993 gun control law called the Brady Act, which mandates that someone looking to buy a firearm from a dealer, manufacturer, or importer is subject to a criminal background check. As part of this law, the FBI runs what is called the National Instant Criminal Background Check System, which pings three databases to quickly figure out whether a prospective buyer has a criminal record. www.vox.com/2015/12/27/10636484/gun-sales-record

Geez, Gun grabbers and their labels... Now it's not just "Assault Rifles" but "Powerful Assault Rifles". Ah, Second Amendment diversity... People and weapons! The gun I got for Christmas: Photographer captures everyday Americans showing off their new weapons at the firing range the day after Christmas - including a woman's custom-made pink anti-tank rifleBy Wills Robinson For Dailymail.com, Published: 14:08 EST, 31 December 2015 Updated: 16:23 EST, 31 December 2015 On Christmas morning, families everywhere rushed downstairs to find hoverboards, Apple Watches and Star Wars toys under the tree. But not many can say Santa left them a custom-made, pink anti-tank rifle, bedazzled in shiny jewels. Guns have been one of the most popular gifts this year - with the sale of weapons soaring in the months leading up to the holidays. So, after the leftovers are stuffed into the tuppaware and extended family members are shoved out the door, thousands of everyday Americans who were given a firearm this Christmas headed out to a firing range to test their presents. www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3380575/The-gun-got-Christmas-Photographer-captures-everyday-Americans-showing-new-weapons-firing-range-day-Christmas-including-woman-s-custom-pink-anti-tank-rifle.html
