Gun Retailers Are Accusing the Obama Admin. of Using ‘Covert’ Tactic to ‘Combat the Second Amendment’
May. 19, 2014 11:55am Becket Adams A growing number of gun retailers say they are being frozen out of business by a slew of new banking regulations imposed by the Obama White House. The complaint stems from the Obama administration in 2011 ordering federal regulators to increase scrutiny on banks and their customers. As a result of this order, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. instructed that banks carefully monitor merchants who rely on payment processors such as PayPal. www.theblaze.com/stories/2014/05/19/gun-retailers-claim-federal-regulations-are-freezing-them-out-of-business/

Gun Seller Dropped By Bank Rejects Their Attempt ‘To Kiss And Make Up’1:15 PM 05/31/2014, Chuck Ross A Massachusetts gun store owner says it’s “too late” for a bank to mend a relationship that it broke. Mark Cohen, who owns Powderhorn Outfitters, a Hyannis, Mass. gun retailer, said that his longtime bank, TD Bank, refused to extend a line of credit because of the business he is in. Cohen explained what happened in an interview with The Daily Caller on Friday. “This year I went to apply for a line of credit, and the bank manager came by the store,” said Cohen, adding that he’s known the bank manager for over 20 years. “Mark, I apologize,” she said, according to Cohen, “your credit history is great, but the bank is turning you down because you sell guns.” dailycaller.com/2014/05/31/gun-seller-dropped-by-bank-rejects-their-attempt-to-kiss-and-make-up/

EMILY MILLER: DOJ accused of targeting gun industry with 'Choke Point' programBy Emily Miller, Published June 02, 2014, FoxNews.com The Obama administration, after failing to get gun control passed on Capitol Hill, has resorted to using its executive power to try to put some in the firearms industry out of business, House Republican investigators say. The assertion is included in a report recently released by California GOP Rep. Darrell Issa, chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee. Citing internal Justice Department documents, the committee concluded that the administration used a program known as Operation Choke Point to target legal companies that it finds “objectionable.” www.foxnews.com/politics/2014/06/02/holder-justice-department-accused-gun-grab-with-choke-point-program/

Barack Obama, Freedom of Speech and Operation Choke Point… you’d better watch out, you might be next!By: Vince The Constitution guarantees every American the Freedom of Speech. The very first Amendment to the document says “Congress shall make no law… abridging the freedom of speech…” Of course, what is speech that it needs such protection? Speech is more than just saying what’s on your mind, regardless of how profound or silly it is. Speech is communication. That’s the speech that needed protection and was incorporated into the First Amendment. It was the communication of thoughts and ideas that needed protection. Speech needed protection because of the impact it could have on others. Kings don’t like their authority questioned and a freedom of speech could potentially rile up his subjects. It is that very reason that our Founding Fathers sought to protect speech: For the people to keep the government in check. floppingaces.net/2014/06/03/barack-obama-and-operation-choke-point-youd-better-watch-out-you-might-be-next/

... “led to misunderstandings”... Obama's DoJ kicked to the curb again. Gun retailers, payday lenders out of Choke Point’s crosshairsBy Kelly Riddell, The Washington Times, Monday, July 28, 2014 Gun retailers are no longer on a hit list deemed “high risk” by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. after the banking regulator formally withdrew Monday the list it put together that outlined what merchants may be considered risky for banks to do business with as part of the Obama administration’s “Operation Choke Point.” The agency said its explanatory warning list “led to misunderstandings” about how it’s supervising banks’ ties to third-party payment providers, according to Bloomberg News. The regulator said it never meant to prevent banks from doing financial transactions with the types of businesses on the list. www.washingtontimes.com/news/2014/jul/28/gun-retailers-payday-lenders-out-of-choke-points-c/
