ATF reportedly used rogue tactics in a half-dozen citiesPublished December 09, 2013, FoxNews.com Federal ATF agents in cities across the country reportedly used rogue tactics to go after guns on the street -- allegedly exploiting the mentally ill, buying up weapons for way more than they're worth and letting minors smoke pot and drink. The details were included in an expose by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, which reported earlier this year on an embarrassing set of blunders made by the Milwaukee arm of the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. The operation in Milwaukee apparently was not a one-off, as officials claimed. Instead, it was part of a pattern of questionable decisions that were employed by six ATF operations, including Milwaukee, nationwide, according to the Journal Sentinel. www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/12/09/atf-reportedly-used-rogue-tactics-in-half-dozen-cities/

ATF officials defend agents but open door to new trainingBy John Diedrich and Raquel Rutledge of the Journal Sentinel The Journal Sentinel reported that mentally disabled people were used by the ATF in operations in at least five cities.
In Milwaukee, agents hired Chauncey Wright, who has an IQ of 54, to work at the storefront and arrange for drug and gun deals, later arresting him for his work.
Agents in Wichita, Kan., hired Tony Bruner, who has an IQ in the mid-50s, to perform the same role. In ATF surveillance video taken at the outset of the operation, ATF agents called Bruner "slow-headed," eventually arresting him on more than 100 counts.
In Portland, agents persuaded two men, including one with a mental disability, to get tattoos — paid for by the government — of the fake storefront's logo on their necks.m.jsonline.com/newswatch/237078101.htm
