DHS Orders 750 Million More Rounds Of AmmoMonday, 13 August 2012 01:22 End The Lie The federal government, specifically the Department of Homeland Security, is buying up huge amounts of ammunition and there seems to be no end in sight. Again, this is nothing new as the DHS has refused to explain their purchase of 450 million hollow points and has ordered "up to" 650-750 million rounds of ammo and also seems to be looking for more weapons as well.www.alt-market.com/articles/971-dhs-orders-750-million-more-rounds-of-ammoDHS agencies to buy up to 7,000 new 5.56x45mm NATO "personal defense weapons"By Madison Ruppert The behemoth Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is seeking up to 7,000 select fire (meaning that they are capable of both semi-automatic and automatic fire) 5.56x45mm North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) personal defense weapons (PDWs) on top of the hundreds of millions of hollow point rounds they recently acquired. endthelie.com/2012/06/12/dhs-agencies-to-buy-up-to-7000-new-5-56x45mm-nato-personal-defense-weapons/#axzz23S7ltlRM

Are they buying existing ammo or new production ammo? Existing ammo will deplete the free market supply.

For ever bullet purchased by the Governmnet at inflated prices there is one less bullet available to the rest of us. If they can't stop us from owning guns they can at least short us on bullets. However Americans are a very resourceful beast. We will stop buying from companies who sell to DHS and buy from the re-loaders with same quality if not prices under the radar. Some fear re-loaded rounds, but if you roll your own why not press your own. You can buy lead from any junk yard that processes batteries. It is generally cheap. If you start today and police up your brass you will be harder to track and have brass to trade in to re-loaders for ammo later. Remember! We use lead bullets and brass casings with white powder for a charge with a pressure detonator only because they are CHEAP. In 1776 they melted lead at the camp fire for balls. Then poured black powder into a barrel and put a ball and wadding on top to keep it in till they used flint and powder to ignite it. Killed a lot of Brits that way. Innovation is just around the corner. PS: Hope they buy good quality weapons so when they drop them and run they will still work!

It was suggested that the weather service won't actually need the ammo. When the gov places orders it is spread around to various dept's, paper says going here but will end up elsewhere.

"Are they buying existing ammo or new production ammo? Existing ammo will deplete the free market supply."
Hate to be the one to break the news to you but the only free markets we have today are the under ground barter system, drug trade and prostitution and to the general gubermint these are all illegal. Every other form of trade is taxed and regulated and part of the plundering of the people.

the only guaranteed supplies of anything is what you make yourself. Thus everyone should have stocks of parts, materials, amd tools to survive.

Fleeing in utter fear would tend to cause them to take only what they could carry in hand.Leaving behind a vast store of goods. Can't wait to get my hands on that stuff! It's our anyway, our tax money payed for it.

DHS Stocking up AmmoThis year the Department of Homeland Security has purchased a reported 750 million rounds of hollow-point bullets. To help put this in perspective, US troops fighting in Iraq used about 70 million rounds/year. In an effort to quell apprehensions as to the intent of her agency, Secretary Janet Napolitano emphasized that "it is important that the government not be out-gunned by its enemies. We must have the firepower to suppress anyone who may rise against us." Napolitano also cited the lack of skill of the forces under her command compared to potential enemies. "The extra rounds are needed to offset the larger ratio of misses we anticipate may occur should we have to face opponents trained by the NRA or similarly able terrorist-related organizations." constitutionclub.org/2012/08/24/semi-news-a-satire-of-recent-news-32/
