Wanna store the old pics, pass info and data easily, safegaurd copies of personal papers and documents? Download 'em on to a thumb drive and toss it in the safe. These devices can be used for multiple tasks, but remember without encryption of the drive and/or the files you might as well just hand the data out.... plug and read. Always keep a duplicate copy in a separate location. Also, mixing in some encrypted "dummy data" color coded decoy drives makes for a great security measure. Need data, or even run programs and subroutines? Thumb drives are for you, storing critical data, photos etc. that no one needs to view until necessary... $10 at Walmart. Keep in mind that you can also have separate encryption on the files stored within the encrypted thumb drive... So even at our current technological level, it would most likely take hundreds of years to crack Encryption for your USB flash driveaskabouttech.com/how-to-encrypt-any-usb-thumb-drive/

If the device is found the data can always be extracted to a computer running the proper software and decrypted in time. Encryption is dependent upon the value of the passwords. If you can easily remember it they can find it in some letter, article you read, or family history. If you use a computer based program installed on an internet capable computer how do you know the program writer didn't create a line of code that has all passwords it created sent to NSA? The best place for the data is on the thumbdrive so long as you have a place for it to be located where it won't be found. Security is never a 1 step method.
