There are several points of the human body that, when accurately knifed, will cause death in 30 seconds or less...so I've heard... There are some where the person is dead before they hit the ground. I still remember a SSGT saying "Take the knife, go through the window, and scramble the brains".

Well, well, just so happens I did a little refresher training on this subject a few months ago... this fighting "Art" is heavy on technique and training. Uncle sugar gave me a little training with the blade with basic survival fighting use, then I got a taste more in specops that was a little more... pointed. But like most, we don't really think about the little blade that we carry around daily. But, in trained hands, that legal folder can be a devastatingly deadly weapon. Plus if you live in a state like mine with a general weapons permit you can carry larger fixed blades. Decided to study up on the subject, and IMHO I found two books will cover what you need to know, I've loaned these out to a few people and all have liked 'em. One will bring you up to speed on the "Art" of the blade, and other is heavier on the "implications" and alternatives to deadly force: Military Knife Fighting: www.amazon.com/Military-Knife-Fighting-Robert-Spear/dp/0879471794/ref=sr_1_2?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1323856321&sr=1-2Knives, Knife Fighting, And Related Hassles: How To Survive A Real Knife Fight: www.amazon.com/Knives-Knife-Fighting-Related-Hassles/dp/0873645448/ref=sr_1_5?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1323856321&sr=1-5I'm serious, save the bucks... almost all of these books teach the exact same stuff, most authors have their own "techniques" they add to the pile, but the moves are all the same. The only variation you will have, is double edged blades, say a Gerber MkII. Due to the specific fighting design, they have slightly different techniques. If you want a pure fighting knife that's the one for you.

I learned a little about knives in the corps, I guess it is enough to get me into trouble, and might get me out of some troubles. Here is a book I like. www.amazon.com/Put-Down-Take-Out-Techniques/dp/0873644840Put Em' Down, Take Em' Out! Knife fighting techniques from Folsom Prison It is a no nonsense approach to fighting for your life with a knife. Simply it is a kill, or be killed type of book.
