This maybe nothing but the time of night middle of the week is not normal, plus the 8-10 Chinooks came in at 300-400 ft dark, no lights. At the same time 6 A-10's took off. Self Ridge A.B is just N.E. of Detroit along Lake St. Claire Just E. of Macomb Country.
Salute report S-8-10 Chinooks’ flying from the N.W. into Self Ridge A.B. A-Flying with no running lights flying at about 350-400 ft L-Self Ridge A.B. Just N. of Detroit off Lake St. Claire U-At night, no lights. T-2205 E-Chinooks This could be night training, odd for the middle of the week, possible they flew in from Grayling MI.

Thanks for the post, and for those of you unfamiliar with SALUTE... a military acronym for gathering and passing information:
Size (of enemy force) Activity (of the enemy) Location (of the enemy) Unit (the type of unit or their uniforms) Time (of observation) Equipment (type and number that the enemy has)
Let's keep our eyes open for anything out of sorts.

Saw 3 warplanes passing overhead yesterday afternoon, but there may have been more that passed over before I got home at around 11:45-12:00 PM. The flew solo about 5 minutes apart and were headed to Pensacola NAS from the look of it. It was a bit cloudy so they were difficult to get a positive ID on. Profile appeared to be A4 Skyhawks, but they looked bigger than a Skyhawk.
