Environmentalists are after a technology called "fracking" used by the natural gas industry to extract natural gas from the ground. "Fracking" Process Under Fire from Left From Billy Gribbin on Monday, April 18, 2011 3:41 PM Consider, if you will, a method of energy exploration which has produced over 7 billion barrels of oil and 600 trillion cubic feet of natural gas, supports hundreds of thousands of domestic jobs, and provides billions in state and federal revenue. It should come as no surprise that something so incredibly useful has made it to the top of Big Green’s hit list. Read more: www.atr.org/fracking-process-under-fire-left-a6070##ixzz1Jytm9u2F

2ncrca If they were doing this in my area I would be against them as you would be. This process is where they pump liquid, not water and in many cases they won't tell anyone exactly what it is, into the ground where the petroleum residue that causes the natural gas is found. The result is the loose petroleum gases are pushed to the top of the rock layer where it can be economically pumped out and used by us to power our gas logs. This liquid while not water has and will mix with the water under your property and for tens and hundreds of acres around the insertion point depending upon the type of rock strata and quantity of inserted liquid and sand layers. Then when your well pump, or the county water supply pumps draw up this liquid in small portions is mixed in the water. The County just adds some fluoride, and adds some chlorine and sends it out to your home for your family to wash, drink, and clean their clothes with. Is this something you can live with so they don't have to drill deeper to get their product?

Doesn't appear to be much negatives written about the process, which has been used for quite awhile... Then again, maybe like most leftists theories, its just another whiny scam to prevent us from using our resources.... Just sayin. What’s In The Water?: Fracking Chemicals Under MicroscopeDecember 19, 2010, By CASEY JUNKINS Staff Writer WHEELING - Most natural gas companies note that between 98 and 99 percent of the 5 million gallons of fluid used to hydraulically fracture a Marcellus Shale natural gas well consists of water and sand. However, what concerns some residents - and even state agencies - when it comes to the fracking process are the chemicals that make up that remaining 1 to 2 percent of the mixture... By Dave Michaels, Published Apr 12, 2011 11:00 PM WASHINGTON — Hoping to avoid tougher regulation of natural gas drilling, a group of energy companies is moving to disclose the chemicals used to extract natural gas in places like North Texas. The companies include Chesapeake Energy, Chief Oil and Gas, Devon Energy and XTO Energy Inc., which was acquired... I will have to hold my ground until all the facts are in with regard to the drilling technology. The "greenies" are a source which I regard to be incredible.
