I accidentally saw Obama speaking on the tube... and I threw up a little in my mouth and have been feeling ill ever since. Is there a cure? All of the usual tropes were present: false choices, straw men, and the now-ubiquitous “Win The Future” catch phrase. This speech did not contain a single word we didn’t already hear in Obama’s last State of the Union address. The President struck the usual moral postures. It was hilarious to hear the leader of a Party that didn’t even produce a budget last year talk about the urgent necessity of “getting our fiscal house in order.” It was even more grimly amusing to hear the President who values Planned Parenthood funding above the paychecks of soldiers talk about how “most of us, regardless of party affiliation, believe that we should have a strong military.” Evidently some of us think we need an even stronger abortion industry.... I choose Compassion! If we cut the rates for welfare in half and give 2/3 the difference to the local community churches to allow them to aid the poor as is their promises when they start those local churches. This could provide for daycare, free lunches, and after-school studies for those with out them. Compassion is "MY Heart felt giving of my Money" to a charitable church to help those who need it most. Not my government determining how much compassion I need to give and them giving the money in my name. If I volunteer to visit the homes of the poor and infirm on one Saturday a month and help thm cut the grass, or repair the roof that is compassion. The Government taking my money and giving it to a disabled elder to get the work done is theft.

I thought Liberty is compassionate. Nothing compassionate about chains, no matter how well padded.
