New technology installed on telephone poles is adjusting the temperature levels in private homes in Manchester Township. Another report states that Dominion Power is already using such devices in its system in Virginia. www.istockanalyst.com/business/news/5009835/new-device-on-utility-poles-can-adjust-your-thermostat(Source: York Daily Record)By Teresa Ann Boeckel, York Daily Record, Pa. If customers set their thermostat at 72 degrees, and the savings device kicks in, they could see the temperature rise 6 or 9 degrees, depending upon which level of temperature increase they choose. The hours typically would be from noon to 7 p.m.

I noticed this program is "voluntary" for now.... Just wait, it won't be for long because not enough folks will allow anyone else to adjust their thermostats, HOPEFULLY.....I wonder how much the fed, state, and local government's are involved with this without the citizens knowledge? And would citizens "voluntarily" go along with this if they found out that the govt's are actually the entity(s) pushing this under the guise of saving users money through the utility company? Let's not forget they are banning incandescent light bulbs as well forcing us to buy those more expensive CFLs. Stock up on those old fashioned bulbs while you can!!! Of course if things continue on the path we are on we will need to stock up on candles because light bulbs will become a moot point anyway

HA!! If they try that I'll just set up a dummy thermostat to run their lines to and install my own thermostat to set at whatever I like.

Oh come on guys..... I'm surprised at you...... Thinking you will be able to "get around" this eventual mandate....When TPTB don't get enough volunteers, they will force everyone to get one one installed (at YOUR cost of course) and WORKING (As THEY want it to), and I'm sure they will check. Now on to the next point......Wouldn't it make sense that they would ban burning wood, coal, or fuel oil because of how much fossil fuels contribute to global warming, it's smelly and makes nasty smoke in our pristine neighborhoods That way we wouldn't have a choice.

In the 90's when I lived outside Seattle/Tacoma area they had burn ban days because of air quality and you could not burn your wood stove unless it was grandfathered in as your only source of heat prior to the law going into effect. They had air quality inspectors riding around and you were fined if you burned on a burn ban day. It has been done before so do not be surprised if it is done again.

Gentlemen Let me welcome you to the 21st Century and modern digital electronics. you drive a car with an on board computer that you do not control, access, or even have the right to see the schematics or the Data sheets. Thus what the fuss about allowing someone else to control your thermostat by sending a digital singnal down the power lines to your new "Green" heating system they gave you a tax deduction on. Did you know that in many cars on the road all of the signals from the engine, the brakes, and the computer are send via 'blue Tooth'. That many of the devices in your vehicles, home, and office are WIFI/Bluetooth compatible. Did you know that when you buy many of these devices that there is an agreement you electronically sign when you register them that makes them the property of the manufacturer and modifying them violates your signed agreements and could result in either legal action or loss of the item without compensation? Wake up and read the fine print. Your life or the lives of your family could depend upon it.

All I am saying is some people do not mind someone or the govt yelling them what they can and can not do , so be it your life but when the shtf dont come running wondering what went wrong because it is to late , I hope we are members of this site to be prepared for whats comming and protect our liberty and republic , yes we have computers on our cars and trucks but they are not telling me when and where I can drive or what hour of the day I can drive like these thermostats are doing with the temp in your home

smokeeater I suspect that the real reason for this action is to get you aware that they can do it. Then when the government starts to brown out they will simply reduce or turn off the heat in all but places they deem necessary. Right after that the radio will have an announcement that due to the weather they will begin rotating on off of the heat till further notice>

This is why we all need to learn to live off the grid , for times when a disaster man made or natural or the govt decides to run more of our lives we can still survive

More importantly would be if you and I started reading the "Agreements' we make every time we sign our names, click on "Accept" or register our products with the manufacturer. These guys all have prepaid lawyers who spend hours writing these "Hidden" contracts to limit their liability so that they can do some really unscrupulous things that we agree to. Take a month and really read every one of the agreements that you receive. They don't all say 'Agreement" . Some appear from folks we do business with in the form of an ad or a letter of offer. Under the Universal Commercial Code (UCC) a contract does not necessarily have to be written and signed by both parties to be a contract. In some cases you can agree to a contract just by not responding to the letter.

I know they write those "agreements"long and winded so people do not take the time to read them . I remember buying our first home papers were flying all over the place and we were just signing our name wondering if the lawyer did his job !!!since then we learned . but when the shtf these "agreements "will not be worth the paper they are written on .
