This weekend my wife spent her days vacuum sealing some stores we have and decided to make a loaf of campfire bread. She made this in our cast iron dutch oven and although the plan was to bake it over an open fire or on the charcoal grill outside, mother nature had other ideas and decided to pour down rain for most of yesterday afternoon and evening so she baked it in the oven in the house. I almost forgot how good home made bread right out of the oven was, YUMMY. A little butter, a little strawberry preserves and wow! Very tasty!
She told me this next weekend she wants to try some venison stew in the dutch oven over the actual fire outside. I said yummy for me!
To say I am a lucky man would be an understatement of epic proportions! My wife has really taken to the prepping and has us set up pretty nicely. She doesn't even complain about me coming home with an unplanned ammo purchase, she sees the need and she really gets it.
I just wanted to brag a little bit from Camp Stoner ;D

Aw man, I thought she did something really noteworthy... Like buy you a Barrett .50.... Hmm, well I guess a great meal does fit in top 10 somewhere. ;D I've talked to the wife about doing one of the outdoor bread ovens, just gotta get it built.

Reminded me of Mr. Bowen. Mr. Bowen www.namsouth.com/viewtopic.php?t=2211&highlight=bowen"Every time my mother would bake loaves of bread, I would take one to him steaming hot. There isn't much better than this smothered in butter."

Hmm, well I guess a great meal does fit in top 10 somewhere. ;D I've talked to the wife about doing one of the outdoor bread ovens, just gotta get it built. Nothing to build Don.... She used a dutch oven recipe. Make the dough, let it sit overnight, then throw it in the dutch oven over a flame or in an indoor oven and wait. She wanted to try a recipe she could use in the dutch oven, it is called campfire bread, and I have to say it turned out VERY yummy. I think a Barrett .50 would have been a bit much to ask for considering how much she has already "allowed" me to get

You're a lucky guy. I'm still trying to drag my ball and chain on board. It takes a wake up call, I had been warning my wife for years of what was on the way... then the financial crash, and half of her 401k funds evaporating... she's on board now.

Mine didn't even really need a wake up call. I just pointed her in the right direction about 5 years ago to find the info that is out there and she ran with it from there.

Well, the hand writing is very much on the wall now and she gets that. She admits that she knows I'm right. And then goes back to her ostrich impression.
