The Drone in itself would be a great tool for LE... in trustworthy hands that is, but the law enforcement machine has shown itself to be anything but trustworthy...
When you get jurisdictions that will force the use of drones down their own citizens throat, even when the local community EXPRESSLY refuses to go along, is where the problem lies... you will let your police force have what they want, if not, they will just bypass you and get what they "require", after all it's for your own protection you silly serf...
And why would citizens already be turning south on LE using drones, it's because they already know it will not stop with surveillance...

LAPD takes another step toward UAS use after $31K donation
Advocates say camera-mounted drones could help protect officers, while critics say they could bring unwarranted surveillance

LOS ANGELES — The Los Angeles Police Department took another step toward using drones in some tactical situations after its civilian bosses Tuesday approved a $31,500 donation to purchase the controversial devices.
The LAPD has yet to fly any drones. The yearlong pilot program, approved by the Police Commission last fall, won’t begin until the department buys the drones and teaches officers how to use them.

Permitting police to use drones with deadly weapons mulled in one state
HARTFORD, Conn. -- Connecticut lawmakers are considering whether the state should become the first in the country to allow police to use drones outfitted with deadly weapons, a proposal immediately met with concern by civil rights and civil liberties advocates.
The bill would ban the use of weaponized drones, but exempt police. Details on how law enforcement could use drones with weapons would be spelled out in rules to be developed by the state Police Officer Standards and Training Council. Officers also would have to receive training before being allowed to use drones with weapons.
