Lincoln is primarily known for being the president during the Civil War and for freeing the slaves. The true story, though, is more complcated than most realize. Most people think the Civil War was fought over the existence of slavery in the United States, but it was not. In fact, it was fought over the issue of secession from the Union, and Lincoln once wrote a letter to a man saying that if he could preserve the Union without freeing a single slave, that is what he would do! After the Civil War commenced, it took Lincoln two years to issue the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863. And even then, the Emancipation Proclamation did not free all of the slaves, but only those in the Confederate states that were conquered/occupied by Union forces. www.newswithviews.com/Cuddy/dennis252.htm

All of this is great for patriots to know, as I put on the forum index page banner... relearn our history and then teach what you have learned, the good AND the bad.
BUT when talking to people about this, remember that the education system has done a lot of damage to our history, and it will take MANY years to repair it.
As with Lincoln, the schools hold him up as an all-American hero and he justifiably sits as one of our best and worst presidents. People just do not understand the damage he did to the constitution, but as damage goes, I can think of a couple other Presidents that did more.

I put it on here for your choice, if you choose to pass it on! or not!
Are there more rules as to what we/I should put on here? If so let me know!

You might want to take a little breather there my friend... I could care less what you post here, I made general comments not even directed at you.

He is one of the poison roots, the entire progressive movement comes from.

Teddy Roosevelt was also a progressive, and did much of the ground work for the progressive movement. The busting of large companies, the government control over certain items all for public safety. Wilson was when it first started to become Demonrats doing it rather than Eastern Republicans.

The only point I could make here is that if there hadn't been Lincoln then the others may not have been elected at all. History would be totally different. The country was already on a spiraling path downward and the differences were very great between the Jeffersonian South and the industrial, money interests in the north. Lincoln pretty much trashed the Constitution but the modern Progressive movement definitely began around Wilson. Now arguing which was worst that I can settle. Given Obama has a little over 3 years left he still has a good chance to secure that spot for all times.
