I disagree with Penn Jillette on a lot of things including religion, but he is right on this. I ran across this on westernrifleshooters.wordpress.com/"It’s amazing to me how many people think that voting to have the government give poor people money is compassion. Helping poor and suffering people is compassion. Voting for our government to use guns to give money to help poor and suffering people is immoral self-righteous bullying laziness. People need to be fed, medicated, educated, clothed, and sheltered, and if we’re compassionate we’ll help them, but you get no moral credit for forcing other people to do what you think is right. There is great joy in helping people, but no joy in doing it at gunpoint. People try to argue that government isn’t really force. You believe that? Try not paying your taxes. (This is only a thought experiment — suggesting on CNN.com that someone not pay his or her taxes is probably a federal offense, and I’m a nut, but I’m not crazy.). When they come to get you for not paying your taxes, try not going to court. Guns will be drawn. Government is force — literally, not figuratively."

George Washington was of the same opinion.
"Government is not reason; it is not eloquent; it is force. Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master."
My thoughts on this, from Facebook.
"Everything the government does is done at threat of force. If you don't believe me, just try not paying your property taxes. The government will come take your property and if you resist, it will be done at gunpoint."
"Mao was right when he said "All political power comes from the barrel of a gun.""
"If you believe in freedom, you should be against governments forced theft at gunpoint. We need government, we need roads, we need schools, and protection, but when government becomes powerful enough to give you all you want, they have to take it from someone else at threat of gun point."

I tried not paying all my taxes once and and even made a humorous statement concerning the Secretary of the Treasury and my getting a cabinet position and I would pay immediately. No sense of humor and swift over retaliation was the response. Government when it is sheer force is the suggestion of sheer force if you do not comply.
