When the ATF was just collecting a tax, the argument could be made that their purpose was legit. Noxious maybe, but at least it had some Constitutional standing. However, when their auspices were moved over under the DoJ, and the registry to pay that tax was closed to new firearms, they lost whatever shred of legitimacy they once may have had. Further... Never forget WHO was in charge when this illegal change was made. www.justice.gov/oig/special/s0610/chapter2.htmBush/Ashcroft/PATRIOT Act A pox on both their Houses.
