The Right—and Duty—to Be At All Times Armed. American Political Stability is Derived from the Right to Revolution.
Brad Patty, September 23, 2019
During the Viking Age, there was a man called Þorgnýr the Lawspeaker. The Lawspeaker’s office made him spokesmen for Swedes who owned their own farms—while not ‘citizens’ in our sense, they were a class of ordinary free people whose interests sometimes differed from those of their kings and lords. One such king, for reasons of pride, tried to draw Þorgnýr’s people into an unwanted war. This resulted in an outcry, and the king held a public meeting to persuade the people to go along. Þorgnýr spoke at this meeting, and reminded the King that seven previous kings had been drowned in a nearby well when they proved resistant to the advice of the people, and should reconsider his war.
And so he did.
Þorgnýr would have understood the American notion of the right of revolution. According to the Declaration of Independence, it is “the Right of the People to alter or to abolish” a government that becomes destructive of their rights.
Tellingly, our Constitution also guarantees that “the Right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.” This right can frustrate those who hold a social position similar to Þorgnýr’s kings and lords. Although some of our elites incessantly invoke “revolutions”—Bernie Sanders, for example—a revolution to thwart the will of politicians at the behest of an armed citizenry is not what they have in mind.
In the last century, scores of millions of defenseless civilians were slaughtered by totalitarian regimes that first disarmed them. Nazi Germany, the Soviet Union, Communist China, the Ottoman Turks, and several dozen other despotic regimes committed mass murder of millions upon millions. Historically, genocide follows confiscation of arms as surely as day follows night.
In order to foster the deterrence of tyranny in American government, the Founders ratified the Second Amendment, acknowledging the unalienable right of the people to bear arms. The published statements of the Founders clarify their points of view with regard to their purpose for acknowledging that right. They clearly meant for the people not to be impeded from owning weapons similar to the ones used by government forces, so that any future despots might be deposed by an armed populace.
The right to bear arms shall not be infringed, according to the Second Amendment. All winning candidates, as well as all appointees to office, must affirm under oath that they will support and defend the Constitution.
Nevertheless, many officials have demonstrated their disdain for that oath, for aspects of the Constitution, for unalienable rights, and for the lawful limits of their delegated power.
High Court Tackles Gun Control: Is A Second Amendment Renaissance (Finally) Possible?
by Jason Ouimet, Executive Director, NRA-ILA - Thursday, December 26, 2019
In December, the U.S. Supreme Court will have heard, for the first time since 2010, arguments on whether a gun-control law violates the Second Amendment. Its decision could determine whether the right to keep and bear arms will finally be accorded the respect and dignity of other Constitutional rights or whether it will remain, as Justice Clarence Thomas once lamented, a “constitutional orphan.”
The case is New York Rifle & Pistol Association v. City of New York.
To understand why this NRA-backed case is so important, it’s helpful to revisit the Second Amendment’s text, history and tradition.
Americans have owned firearms from the Colonies’ earliest days.
The Founders never questioned whether U.S. residents would own guns—they already did—but whether the individual ownership of arms was so fundamental to the scheme of government they were creating as to be enshrined in the U.S. Constitution.
The Second Amendment affirmatively answered the question, stating: “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a Free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”
We’re Forgetting: The Right To Bear Arms Is Essential For Life And Liberty
by KrisAnne Hall, JD
John Adams wrote, “Liberty must at all hazards be defended, we have a right to it derived from our maker. But if we had not, our fathers have bought and purchased it for us at the expense of their ease, their estates and their pleasure and their blood.”
So, first, you stand up for the weak and ignorant. You stand up to say, we will not let you be enslaved. We will defend you as well as our own because that is the call of Liberty that Makes America Great
Excellent news, keep buying until the Government turns off the faucet with an 'emergency declaration' ...
Coronavirus Gun Sale Surge Overwhelms State, Federal Background Check Systems
AWR Hawkins, 23 Mar 2020
The gun sales surge accompanying the Chinese conronavirus pandemic is overwhelming both state and federal background check systems.
On March 19, 2020, Breitbart News reported National Shooting Sports Foundation numbers showing gun sales in the U.S. had jumped 300 percent above where they were at the same point in time last year. Thereafter, various Federal Firearm License holders (FFLs) contacted Breitbart News to talk of calling into the FBI’s National Instant Criminal Background Checks (NICS) to do a background check for a pending sale, only to be placed on hold for hours and/or, in some cases, to have the line disconnected.
An FFL from a western state told Breitbart News he has a stack of background checks forms–ATF form 4473–already filled out by customers who came into the store to purchase firearms during the sales surge. The FFL arrives at store early in the morning and places a call to the FBI NICS number simply to be placed in the queue, and once he is talking to someone he runs as many of the background checks as he can before being disconnected.
You can see it now, even from politicians on the right, when the chips are down and resources are scarce, they WILL shut down the Second Amendment to hold on to their power...
Leftists Now Using Coronavirus to Suspend Your 2nd Amendment Rights
By Max McGuire, 03/17/2020
The Mayor of New Orleans, LaToya Cantreell (D) just signed an emergency order announcing that she has the power to suspend the 2nd Amendment inside the city limits to respond to the coronavirus.
What do gun and ammunition sales have to do with the coronavirus? Absolutely nothing. This is just another example of Democrats trying to take advantage of this panic to push through the policies that they have tried and failed to implement for decades.
As of this morning, the entire state of Louisiana has tested 451 people, reported 171 confirmed cases of coronavirus, and suffered four fatalities. Mayor Cantrell believes that is enough of a crisis to suspend the 2nd Amendment in a city of over 400,000 people.
But she is not the first mayor to take these steps and declare that the 2nd Amendment is on the chopping block.
With gun and ammo sales off the chart, and now this! I'm gonna be smiling all day as liberal heads explode across America...
Tennessee House Votes To Be Second Amendment Sanctuary Amid Nationwide Riots
Jake Dima, June 02, 2020 12:18 PM ET
Tennessee is now one step closer to becoming a Second Amendment sanctuary after the state House of Representatives passed a resolution Monday strengthening legal protections of gun ownership.
Resolution HJR074, drafted in March, requires the state to “[extend] a safe harbor to Virginians and other United States citizens whose constitutional rights are being violated by elected officials.” It also affirms that citizens have a right to maintain arms equivalent “to those of their government’s basic infantry unit.”
The bill includes language that details an individual’s right to own “semi-automatic AR-15s, AK-47s, and similar firearms” in order for one to execute their “God-given” right to oppose government tyranny. The legislation also reportedly parallels language in a book that claims over 260 million people have been killed by governments around the globe, according to a Fox 17 report.
If someone illegally trespasses on your property you have every right to protect yourself and your family from any threat those trespassing may pose to you. Self-defense is one of the most basic of human rights.
Thankfully, we are afforded that human right under the Second Amendment.
Since the tragic death of George Floyd in late May we have watched on a daily basis lawless acts such as burning of private and public buildings, rioting, looting of stores, destruction of historical statues and attacks inflicting injury and even death on law enforcement officials.
These criminal actions dishonor George Floyd’s memory and amount to anarchy.
People are sick and tired of it. We have no problem at all with those who are peacefully demonstrating over his death and that of Breonna Taylor in Louisville, but those who continue to commit criminal acts on a daily basis, usually under the cover of darkness to conceal their identity, are not peacefully demonstrating and are sadly using these deaths to commit crimes.
This environment coupled with the defund the police movement has not gone unnoticed by everyday law abiding citizens.
A reminder of why you should be armed at ALL times...
Homeowner Opens Fire, Kills Two of Three Home Invasion Suspects
AWR Hawkins, 11 Jul 2020
A Wesley Chapel, Florida, homeowner shot and killed two out of three home invasion suspects Friday morning.
Fox 35 reports that the homeowner was playing video games when he heard glass breaking just before 1:00 a.m. He retrieved a gun and shot one suspect in a hallway, then fired again when a second suspect allegedly appeared in the hallway with a gun.
Sheriff Chris Nocco says the suspect fired his gun, then it jammed. The homeowner shot him. Then a third suspect appeared in the hallway. The homeowner shot the third suspect as well.
The homeowner’s gun then jammed and he went to grab another gun. When he returned he saw that the third suspect had gotten up and fled the scene.
Americans turn to 2nd Amendment for protection from radical left
OAN Newsroom, UPDATED 12:00 PM PT — Thursday, July 30, 2020
With radical left-wing terrorists taking to the streets in cities across the country, many Americans have been forced to defend themselves. As One America’s Pearson Sharp explains, that means our Second Amendment rights are more important than ever before.
