President Donald Trump took a step back on Tuesday from his threat to close the U.S. southern border to fight illegal immigration, as pressure mounted from companies worried that a shutdown would cause chaos to supply chains.
Trump threatened on Friday to close the border this week unless Mexico acted. He repeated that threat on Tuesday but said he had not made a decision yet: "We're going to see what happens over the next few days."
US expands 'catch and release' amid surge in migrants
By CEDAR ATTANASIO and ASTRID GALVAN, Apr. 2, 2019 7:42 PM EDT
With immigrant processing and holding centers overwhelmed, the administration is busing people hundreds of miles inland and releasing them at Greyhound stations and churches in cities like Albuquerque, San Antonio and Phoenix because towns close to the border already have more than they can handle.
Relief organizations in some cities are struggling to feed and house the migrants and warning that a public health crisis is taking shape, especially with sick infants and children among the many immigrant families who need medical attention.
"We're asking volunteer doctors and nurses and community members to step up and do what the government should be doing. If this was a hurricane, FEMA would be on the ground helping," said Jim Gannon, CEO and executive director of Catholic Charities in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Former Border Patrol Chief: CBP to Release 650,000 Illegals into U.S. This Year
By Melanie Arter, April 4, 2019 11:51 AM EDT
(CNSNews.com) – Former Border Patrol Chief Mark Morgan told the Senate Homeland Security Committee Thursday that the Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) anticipates that 650,000 illegal immigrants will be released into the United States this year.
Morgan cited CBP estimates that the agency anticipates apprehending 1 million illegal immigrants trying to cross the border this year. He said 60 to 65 percent of illegals entering the country are families or minors, who are typically released into the U.S.
Following this trend, Morgan predicted that 650,000 illegals will be released into the country.
Kris Kobach: Catch and Release Can Be Instantly Ended Without Congress
JOHN BINDER, 10 Apr 2019
Former Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach is detailing a plan for President Trump’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS) that would instantly end the administration’s expanded Catch and Release policy.
As Breitbart News has chronicled, DHS has been releasing roughly 1,000 border crossers and illegal aliens into the interior of the United States through the unofficial Catch and Release program. The process often entails federal immigration officials dropping illegal aliens off at bus stations, where they are then released from custody with the promise to return for their immigration hearings. The overwhelming majority of illegal aliens are never deported from the country once released into the interior.
During an interview on Fox News, Kobach explained how the policy can be instantly ended by the creation of more detention space:
This is how Trump is securing the border?! ONE THOUSAND FOUR HUNDRED EVERY F-ing DAY. The Republicrat Party marches on, stuffing as many low skilled, diseased, third world, invading miscreants in the country as they can.
This is NOT enforcement... not at all, this is national suicide. And now Trumps finger prints are all over it, they can't even find and deport the illegals already here, yet they continue to release THOUSANDS more every day!
DHS Releases 7K Illegal Aliens into U.S. in Five Days; 1.4K Released Every Day
JOHN BINDER, 24 Apr 2019
President Trump’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has released about 7,000 border crossers and illegal aliens into the interior of the United States in the last five days.
The latest catch and release totals obtained by Breitbart News revealed that, currently, DHS is releasing about 1,400 border crossers and illegal aliens into the interior of the U.S. every day. Between April 18 to April 22, DHS released about 7,000 border crossers and illegal aliens into the country.
The catch and release process often entails federal immigration officials busing border crossers into nearby border cities and dropping them off with the promise that they will show up for their immigration and asylum hearings, sometimes years later. The overwhelming majority of border crossers and illegal aliens are never deported from the country once they are released into the U.S.
DHS Builds 42 Miles of Mostly Replacement Border Wall Since Trump’s Inauguration
JOHN BINDER, 24 May 2019
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has constructed 42 miles of border wall that has mostly replaced existing barriers rather than extending the physical infrastructure at the nearly 2,000-mile long United States-Mexico border.
In a brief on border wall construction, DHS officials say the agency has completed about 42 miles of border wall, most of which replace existing barriers, since President Trump’s inauguration. About 205 miles of “new and updated border barriers have been funded” since January 2017, the brief states.
Additionally, DHS officials say the Defense Department is set to construct about 131 miles of “of new border barriers in place of dilapidated or outdated designs, in addition to road construction and lighting installation.”
In a breakdown by DHS, about 226 miles of the total 336 miles expected to be constructed is of update primary barriers, updated vehicle barriers, or update secondary barriers. The other 110 miles are designated for “new primary wall” and “new levee wall.”
Still, the mileage of border wall built in areas of the southern border that previously did not have a barrier remains unclear, though sources close to DHS told Breitbart News the figure is low.
Every administration since the early 2000s has replaced border barriers at the U.S.-Mexico border, as the Trump administration has continued doing. The Obama administration, for example, constructed an 18-foot border fence that replaced an existing barrier in the Sunderland Park, New Mexico region.
Meanwhile, the majority of the U.S.-Mexico border has remained open as DHS replaces existing fencing rather than extending border barriers to new land areas that would otherwise have stayed open.
DHS Releases 7.9K Illegal Aliens into U.S. in 8 Days; 185K Released in 5 Months
JOHN BINDER, 22 May 2019
President Trump’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has released about 7,900 border crossers and illegal aliens into the United States in the past eight days, federal data confirms.
Catch and Release totals obtained by Breitbart News reveal that between May 14 and May 21, DHS has released about 7,900 border crossers and illegal aliens into the interior of the U.S. This indicates that about 1,000 border crossers and illegal aliens were released every day over the past week by federal officials.
The catch and release process often entails federal immigration officials busing border crossers into nearby border cities and dropping them off with the hope that they show up for their immigration and asylum hearings. The overwhelming majority of border crossers and illegal aliens are never deported from the country once they are released into the U.S.
Today, there are anywhere between 11 and 22 million illegal aliens living across the country — the majority of which are concentrated in states like California, New York, Florida, Texas, and Illinois.
Over the last eight days, the 7,900 border crossers and illegal aliens released into the U.S. were mostly dropped off in the El Paso, Texas and Phoenix, Arizona regions.
Top sheriff warns: Trump’s ‘done’ if illegal immigration isn’t slashed
by Paul Bedard, May 30, 2019 11:31 AM
One of America’s top sheriffs and supporter of President Trump is warning that if the administration doesn’t curb the explosion of illegal immigration across the southern border, the president will lose reelection in 2020.
“This last election was a mandate,” said Frederick County, Md., Sheriff Chuck Jenkins. “If he doesn’t accomplish something, he’s done. His whole campaign was 75% was based on that,” he told Secrets at an immigration roundtable in neighboring Virginia Wednesday night.
Jenkins, a forceful advocate for Trump and against illegal immigration, was in Culpeper, Va., to talk up that county’s bid to work with Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Trump better start squaring his shit away! After he screwed us the last time with 'giving Mexico a year to stop the drugs and human trafficking', his credibility on this issue is in serious need.
As shown by hundreds of articles on this forum; he is an absolute failure in shutting down the border invasion. Instead TRUMPS DHS is ALLOWING them in, releasing, and even transporting THOUSANDS of diseased Illegal Aliens throughout the U.S., So far on this issue alone, he is a complete sell-out!
Now he backs down again, with ZERO assurances from the most corrupt country in the America's, and on cue...
No US-Mexico deal exists despite Trump's claim, Mexico foreign minister says
Lily Puckett, The Independent, June 10, 2019
The Mexican foreign minister says no secret immigration deal exists between Mexico and the US, just hours after President Donald Trump tweeted that a “fully signed and documented” agreement would be “be revealed in the not too distant future.”
Marcelo Ebrard, Mexico’s top diplomat, said in a news conference in Mexico City on Monday that there was an understanding that both countries would evaluate the number of migrants crossing the border of Mexico and the United States in the coming months, according to the New York Times.
If the number is no significantly reduced, Mr Ebrard says, both nations will renew discussions about changes to regional asylum rules. According to American officials, those numbers will be reviewed in 45 days, and again in 90 days.
This plan for assessment of the situation before coming to a new arrangement directly contradicts a tweet sent by Mr Trump early Monday morning.
“We have fully signed and documented another very important part of the Immigration and Security deal with Mexico, one that the US has been asking about getting for many years,” the president wrote.
With his threatened Mexican tariffs now on the back burner, President Donald Trump was looking to claim victory even as some of his Democratic challengers for the White House criticized him for overselling a deal that mostly ramps up existing efforts.
Trump defended the agreement reached by U.S. and Mexican negotiators to head off the 5% tax on all Mexican goods that Trump had threatened to impose Monday as he tried to pressure the country to do more to stem the flow of Central American migrants across the U.S. southern border.
But on Monday he repeated threats to reinstate the tariff plan if Mexico fails to go through with its promises.
"We have fully signed and documented another very important part of the Immigration and Security deal with Mexico, one that the U.S. has been asking about getting for many years," he said on Twitter Monday. "It will be revealed in the not too distant future and will need a vote by Mexico’s Legislative body!..
Just another sign among many that the Federal Government headed by Donald Trump is doing everything EXCEPT securing the border...
Private Border Wall Ordered To Keep Its Gate Open
Andrew Kerr, 12:06 PM 06/11/2019
The gate of a private half-mile border wall constructed in New Mexico was ordered Monday to stay open after officials said it was built on federal land without a permit.
Most of the private wall built over Memorial Day weekend by triple-amputee Air Force veteran Brian Kolfage’s nonprofit group is on private land, but the International Boundary and Water Commission (IBWC) stepped in after the group started building the barrier’s gate on federal property in early June.
“‘We Build the Wall’ did not receive a permit to construct a gate on federal property,” IBWC spokeswoman Lori Kuczmanski told KVIA. “They think they can build now and ask questions later, and that’s not how it works.”
The gate blocked officials from accessing a levee and dam and also cut off public access to a historic monument, IBWC officials said, according to BuzzFeed News.
The federal agency placed a lock on the gate to ensure it stays open.
Kolfage aggressively shot back at the IBWC’s order on Twitter, saying the agency is a “fine example of over reach” and alleged, without evidence, that it is “planning for mass invasion.”
Trump blinks on immigration, failing his supporters one more time
Eddie Scarry, June 24, 2019 12:03 PM
Never underestimate the ability of some of President Trump’s most devoted supporters to delude themselves into thinking each one of his losses on immigration is actually a win. Case in point, the right-leaning Washington Times reported in earnest that House Democrats “blinked” by agreeing to “grant at least part of President Trump’s emergency border funding” request.
Which “part” did Democrats agree to fund? No, not the part that involves building the long-promised “wall.” It’s the part where illegal immigrants flooding in to the country get more free stuff.
As House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said in a sprightly statement, “This legislation provides urgently-needed humanitarian assistance for families, including funding for food, shelter, clothing, medical care and legal assistance …”
This is what Trump gets and deserves for his capitulation...
Mexico will not detain migrants at US border: president
Yemeli ORTEGA, with Herika MARTINEZ PRADO, June 25, 2019
Mexico City (AFP) - Mexico's president vowed Tuesday to investigate the controversial detention of migrants trying to cross the US border, saying the 15,000 troops he has deployed there have no such orders.
President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, a leftist who took office in December vowing to protect migrants' rights, has come under fire over an AFP journalist's images last week of heavily armed National Guardsmen forcibly detaining two women and a girl at the Rio Grande river, across from El Paso, Texas.
International law protects the right of undocumented migrants to cross borders to seek asylum, and Mexico had not typically stopped them from doing so at its northern border.
Trump has not built a single mile of new border fence after 30 months in office
by Anna Giaritelli, July 20, 2019 12:00 AM, Updated Jul 20, 2019, 02:01 PM
SAN DIEGO, California — The Trump administration has not installed a single mile of new wall in a previously fenceless part of the U.S.-Mexico border in the 30 months since President Trump assumed office, despite his campaign promise to construct a “big beautiful wall.”
In a statement last week, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the federal agency overseeing border barrier construction, confirmed that all the fencing completed since Trump took office is "in place of dilapidated designs" because the existing fence was in need of replacement.
The agency said that it had built 51 miles of steel bollard fence with funding that was set aside during fiscal 2017 and 2018. But while the funding was meant both to replace outdated walls and to place barriers where there previously had been none, the government has only completed the replacement projects. The projects to secure areas with no fence are still in the works.
The 50 miles of completed replacement barrier is a 10-mile gain since early April. In Trump’s two and a half years in office, his administration has installed an average 1.7 miles of barrier per month, and none of it in areas that did not previously have some sort of barrier. A total 205 miles of new and replacement barrier has been funded in the two and a half years since Trump took office.
Because Trump is doing such a bang up job in stopping the invasion or even removing those illegals already ordered to leave...
More Than 2,000 Migrants Were Targeted in Raids. 35 Were Arrested.
Miriam Jordan, 23 Jul 2019
More than 2,000 migrants who were in the United States illegally were targeted in widely publicized raids that unfolded across the country last week. But figures the government provided to The New York Times on Monday show that just 35 people were detained in the operation.
President Trump had touted the raids — called Operation Border Resolve — as a show of force amid an influx of Central American parents and children across the southern border. After postponing the raids in June, Mr. Trump said ahead of time that they would take place last week.
Two current Department of Homeland Security officials and one former department official also confirmed to The Times that an enforcement operation would take place around mid-July.

Mexican president, foreign minister reject ‘Safe Third Country’ deal with U.S.
OAN Newsroom, UPDATED 12:40 PM PT — Tuesday, July 30, 2019
Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador is rejecting calls for a Safe Third Country agreement with the U.S. In a statement Monday, Lopez Obrador said he could not commit to an agreement to keep all Central American migrants in Mexico going forward. He proposed that the U.S. and Mexico cooperate on economic development in Central America.
Last week, Guatemala agreed to strike a Safe Third Country deal with the U.S.after President Trump threatened crippling tariffs on that country. However, Mexico says its efforts have already reduced the flow of migrants into the U.S.
