Government Job Growth in June Outstrips Manufacturing 35 to 1By Terence P. Jeffrey, July 7, 2017 8:59 AM EDT (CNSNews.com) - The growth in the number of employees in federal, state and local government jobs beat the growth in the number of employees in manufacturing jobs 35 to 1 in June, according to the employment data released today by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The seasonally adjusted government employment number grew by 35,000 in the month, while seasonally adjusted manufacturing employment grew by only 1,000. Also, in 2017 so far, the United States has created 1,000 more government jobs than manufacturing jobs, according to the BLS data. From May to June, the seasonally adjusted total for employment in government rose from 22,318,000 to 22,353,000—an increase of 35,000. At the same time, the seasonally adjusted total for employment in manufacturing rose from 12,395,000 to 12,396,000—an increase of 1,000. www.cnsnews.com/news/article/terence-p-jeffrey/government-job-growth-june-outstrips-manufacturing-35

Government Has Become Just A Jobs ProgramJohn Conlin, President, 11:59 PM 07/18/2017 As the United States Postal Service (USPS), a quasi-public entity, loses yet another $5.6 billion in fiscal year 2016, I have a suggestion. I could cut their costs by hundreds of millions with a very simple and relatively painless plan. Switch all deliveries to every-other-day service. Some addresses could be delivered Monday, Wednesday, Friday while the others would see service on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday. The impact on the consumers of USPS services, residence or business, would be minimal. With this one move hundreds of thousands of unnecessary positions could be eliminated. Tens of thousands of polluting vehicles would be permanently taken off the road. This of course will never happen. Those who call themselves public servants have devised a system where they are pretty much immune from the realities the rest of us face. Losing one’s job once employed by government? Generally not going to happen. Then early gold-plated retirement plans follow. dailycaller.com/2017/07/18/government-has-become-just-a-jobs-program/
