There is but one solution to all of this.
Ephesians 6:10-18
The Armor of God
10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

Knights of Columbus report: ISIS committing Christian ‘genocide’
WASHINGTON (RNS) The Knights of Columbus has issued a 280-page report declaring that the Islamic State group is committing “genocide” against Christians and other religious groups in the Middle East and urging the U.S. State Department to use that term to describe its actions.
Knights of Columbus CEO Carl Anderson said his Catholic fraternal organization, working in partnership with the group In Defense of Christians, does not contend Christians alone are facing genocide from the group known as ISIS but it believes the State Department must include them.
“The United States government should not exclude Christians from such a finding,” he said at a news conference Thursday (March 10). “Doing so simply would be contrary to the facts.”
At the request of senior State Department officials, the Knights of Columbus issued the report detailing how Christians have been the victims of killings, kidnappings, rapes and destruction of religious property. It included a list of 1,131 Christians killed in Iraq between 2003 and 2014, and 125 churches attacked there in the same period.
Gregory Stanton, president of Genocide Watch, joined Anderson on a panel of experts supporting the findings of the report and the use of the word “genocide.”
“The truth is, the word’s moral force is the reason for this word to be used,” said Stanton, the former president of the International Association of Genocide Scholars.
Nina Shea, a religious freedom expert at the Hudson Institute, called the report the “largest compilation in existence of what has happened to Christians in the path of ISIS.”

Will the U.S. Deny the Evidence or Declare a Genocide?
“We will conquer Rome, break your crosses, and enslave your women, by the permission of Allah, the Exalted.” So “The Islamic State” has declared. If you didn’t believe they were serious, the evidence was presented this morning in Washington, D.C., in the form of a report submitted to Secretary of State John Kerry. The evidence puts in focus the question before him right now: Does the United States want to stand alone on the world stage in denial of genocide?
The report, put together by the Knights of Columbus and In Defense of Christians, includes a legal brief, backed up by witness statements, lists of crimes against Christians, the names of Christians who have been murdered, the names of the churches that have been attacked, medical reports including the growing threat of cholera, and price lists for Christian and Yezidi sex slaves. (Those who do not “abide by these prices” for “the spoils of war” “will be executed.”)
It is, in parts, unbearable to read what is being done to these people: One Christian man from Mosul committed suicide after ISIS fighters brutally raped his wife and daughter in front of him. Another woman was victimized so often that she resorted to defecating on herself to make herself less desirable, and had to be trained to use the bathroom again after she escaped. Outside Aleppo, Syria, two women were publicly raped when they refused to convert [from] Christianity before they were beheaded.
And it’s much worse than all that. As the report puts it: Much of what we have recorded is supplemented by stories that cannot be formally included because women were afraid to speak to investigators. These stories include women who have been raped and now have children by ISIS, and a woman whose children were stolen in front of her before ISIS serially raped her and others.
All of this 300-page report is, of course, only what we know. But what we know has been enough for the European Parliament, the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom, and the Iraqi and Kurdish governments to call it genocide. Angela Merkel, Hillary Clinton, and the Office of the U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights have as well. You might recall Pope Francis and the Patriarch of Moscow in an unprecedented meeting a few weeks ago doing the same. Last week, the House passed a genocide resolution H. Con. Res. 75, the fruit of months of work from Nebraska Republican Jeff Fortenberry, who represents America’s largest Yezidi community in the U.S., and Democrat Anna Eshoo, who is of Assyrian and Armenian descent. With over 200 co-sponsors, it had bipartisan support.
President Obama’s State Department, however, remains silent. Secretary of State John Kerry told a House committee that the matter is under investigation. For months, reports have suggested that his State Department was poised to acknowledge that Yezidis are the victims of genocide, while leaving out the Christians.
