Support for the idea that it’s good to hear all opinions, even offensive ones, is thin. A plurality of Americans now support laws against “hate speech.”
Conservatives once wanted to ban Playboy magazine, violent rap lyrics and offensive depictions of Jesus. Leftists then were right to fight such bans, but today leftists encourage censorship in the name of “tolerance.”
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
And by the way, MANY on the Conservative side helped push the new 'thought police' atmosphere.
Have you railed against burning an inanimate object such as the American Flag, or hanging and burning an effigy as political speech or discourse... then you are part of the problem.
Have you been beat into submission over using words like Nigger, Wop, Spic, Wetback, Chink, Fag, Homo, Lesbo, or (insert your 'offensive' term or word here)?... then you are part of the problem.
Are you afraid of speaking out with an 'anti-government'/anti-politician bias?... then you are part of the problem.
It's not only the Progressives and Liberals that have pushed us to the position where you are afraid to speak your mind, you have done it to yourselves... and that is just as good as having physical chains binding you down.
Freedom of speech is your Constitutional Right to communicate your opinions and ideas without fear of government retaliation or censorship.

"LGBT people are not your enemy."
You are incorrect, right now the entire 'LGBT' community as a whole is the enemy of freedom and liberty. I could list the many instances here but you probably already know 'em, so why waste our time with the minutia? You are not MY enemy per se but make no bones about it, the 'LGBT' community has made itself an enemy of America.
Armed & Dangerous: The Terrorism of the LGBT Radicals
When the word ‘terrorism’ is used today, most people equate it with Muslim extremists, radical bombings and hijacked aircraft. But there’s another form of terrorism happening right here in America, and the perpetrators are out to destroy the very fiber of our Judeo-Christian heritage and U.S. Constitution. Welcome to the bloody LGBT battlefield where everyone is fair game in a relentless, multifaceted assault on our humanity.
The story has hit the news twice now– first Brendan Eich said donating to a traditional marriage supporting organization was a mistake, then he was forced to resign as CEO of Mozilla Firefox because of the donation.
It is amazing that America has gone to such a low level that we are evaluated by how we make donations to organizations…six years ago!
The Left didn’t targeted Mr. Eich for a nasty public comment ridiculing a different lifestyle, a hate-filled remark about somebody that he disliked who was gay or something reasonable along that line…
Good deal, peoples eyes are finally getting yanked wide open by the actions of the 'LGBT' radicals, the citizens are seeing how these unAmerican radicals are stripping everyday citizens of their natural rights and constitutional protections.
Houston LGBT Nondiscrimination Ordinance Rejected By Voters
Nov. 3, 2015 10:56pm Associated Press
HOUSTON (AP) — An ordinance that would have established nondiscrimination protections for gay and transgender people in Houston failed to win approval from voters on Tuesday.
The Houston Equal Rights Ordinance was rejected after a nearly 18-month battle that spawned rallies, legal fights and accusations of both religious intolerance and demonization of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.
“‘Shut up,’ he explained.” That’s a sentence from Ring Lardner’s short story “The Young Immigrunts.” It’s an exasperated father’s response from the driver’s seat to his child’s question, “Are you lost, Daddy?”
They also can be taken as the emblematic response of today’s liberals to anyone questioning their certitudes. As with the father in the story, it’s a response that indicates uneasy apprehension — the fear that they have no good answer.
There is another area where the attack on ballot-box integrity goes completely unappreciated. We can examine this attack by looking at the laws governing census taking. As required by law, the U.S. Census Bureau is supposed to count all persons in the U.S. Those to be counted include citizens, legal immigrants and non-citizen long-term visitors. The law also requires that illegal immigrants be a part of the decennial census. The estimated number of illegal immigrants ranges widely from 12 million to 30 million. Official estimates put the actual number closer to 12 million.
Both citizens and non-citizens are included in the census and thus affect apportionment counts. Counting illegals in the census undermines one of the fundamental principles of representative democracy — namely, that every citizen-voter has an equal voice.
The Right to Tell the Government to Go to Hell: Free Speech in an Age of Government Bullies, Corporate Censors and Compliant Citizens
By John W. Whitehead, January 19, 2016
“If liberty means anything at all, it means the right to tell people what they do not want to hear.”― George Orwell
Free speech is not for the faint of heart.
Nor is it for those who are easily offended, readily intimidated or who need everything wrapped in a neat and tidy bow. Free speech is often messy, foul-mouthed, obscene, intolerant, undignified, insensitive, cantankerous, bawdy and volatile.
Ah, the leftists turds making their pathetic stands... Don't like what they're doing? well you must be raaaaaaaacist.
Leftist radicals of all stripes must be properly delt with during the restoration.
Stokes asks for investigation into signs posted by gun seller Sign says those who vote for Stokes, Obama ‘too stupid to own a gun’
UPDATED 6:44 PM CST Jan 20, 2016
JACKSON, Miss. —Jackson City Councilman Kenneth Stokes is asking for a federal investigation into a sign posted by a gun store owner.
The sign, which was spotted at the Jackson Gun Show over the weekend says, “It’s hard to tell the difference between Democrats and terrorists and if you support Kenneth Stokes or the president, you’re too stupid to own a gun.”
The sign is owned by Tim Wolverton.
“Well it kind of started out as a joke, and so of course, so is Kenneth Stokes,”

Is the U.S. Government Now TRACKING ‘Right-Wing Extremists’?
By Robert Spencer May 10, 2016
Maybe there is another explanation for why checking in for a flight has become suddenly problematic for me. But let’s take a rational look at the background provided by the Obama administration: the IRS targets conservative groups; the administration signed on to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s effort to compel Western governments to stifle criticism of Islam; the administration scrubbed the records of Muslims with jihad terror ties.
Is the idea that this administration would keep tabs on public foes of its policies farfetched? Or is it a reasonable assumption?
Exclusive — Immigration Hawks: Facebook Engaging in Deliberate Suppression of Our Content
by Julia Hahn, 18 May 2016
In the past week, there has been much discussion about the allegation that Facebook is censoring its “trending” news stories based on political ideology. However, advocates for curbing immigration into the United States say that this is just the tip of the iceberg.
The advocates claim that Facebook suppresses users who promote material which could undermine Facebook’s lobbying efforts for expanding the admission of foreign labor. They say that Facebook has ceased to be an impartial communications facilitator, but is now a “political combatant.”
Air Force veteran threatens suit after being bounced from ceremony mid-speech
By Perry Chiaramonte, Published June 20, 2016 FoxNews.com
A retired Air Force sergeant who in April was dragged from a military retirement ceremony as he recited a traditional passage honoring the flag is demanding an apology and threatening a lawsuit.
Senior Master Sgt. Oscar Rodriguez was invited to speak at the April 3 ceremony by an outgoing fellow master sergeant from the 749th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron. In a story first reported by FoxNews.com days later, video showed Rodriguez being forcibly removed by service members at Travis Air Force Base.
"This was one of the most humiliating experiences of my life,” Rodriguez told FoxNews.com. “All I wanted to do was honor Master Sgt. [Charles] Roberson, his guests, and the flag, with my speech."
Rodriguez believes his recitation of an old version of "Flag Folding Ceremony Air Force Script," which was later scrubbed because of religious references, prompted his ouster. The version read by Rodriguez contained religious references.
Obama Enters Media Wars: Why His Recent Attack On Free Speech Is So Dangerous & Radical
by Tyler Durden, Oct 15, 2016 10:00 PM, Submitted by Mike Krieger via Liberty Blitzkrieg blog,
Control of the news media is an instrumental, key feature to any totalitarian government. In contrast, the primary reason this experiment known as the United States has lasted so long under relatively free conditions is due to the preservation of free speech (and press) via the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
In case you haven’t read it in a while, here’s the text:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
Nowhere in there do I see an exception for “conspiracy theories,” but apparently Constitutional scholar Barack Obama has an alternative interpretation.
As reported by AFP:
Pittsburgh (AFP) – President Barack Obama on Thursday decried America’s “wild, wild west” media environment for allowing conspiracy theorists a broad platform and destroying a common basis for debate.
Recalling past days when three television channels delivered fact-based news that most people trusted, Obama said democracy require citizens to be able to sift through lies and distortions.
“We are going to have to rebuild within this wild-wild-west-of-information flow some sort of curating function that people agree to,” Obama said at an innovation conference in Pittsburgh.
“There has to be, I think, some sort of way in which we can sort through information that passes some basic truthiness tests and those that we have to discard, because they just don’t have any basis in anything that’s actually happening in the world,” Obama added.
“That is hard to do, but I think it’s going to be necessary, it’s going to be possible,” he added.
“The answer is obviously not censorship, but it’s creating places where people can say ‘this is reliable’ and I’m still able to argue safely about facts and what we should do about it.”
Chilling Speech and Suppressing Religious Freedom: Time to Amend the Johnson Amendment
By Tony Perkins | October 18, 2016 | 2:21 PM EDT
Millions of Americans will go to the polls Nov. 8 and vote. These Americans are a cross section of society; they are diverse, with many different opinions, political views, areas of interest, and sources of knowledge that inspire their choices.
Such a robust civil society is part of what makes our country great. This civil society and the organizations that compose it should be allowed to inform their followers with expertise that could help them choose elected officials.
Who doesn’t want informed voters?
Yet for decades a provision of the tax code referred to as the Johnson Amendment has prevented these organizations from providing such information.

Highlights, the nationally recognized magazine for kids, has decided to include same-sex families in their magazines. Babies and preschoolers will soon be introduced to homosexuality in the Highlights line of magazines. Sadly, children's publications are no longer off limits, even those designed specifically for toddlers and elementary age children.
Highlights had stated previously that they believe parents should decide when to bring up the topic of homosexuality. But after backlash from the LGBT community, Highlights committed to including same-sex families in future publications.
Gay Writer: ‘It’s No Longer Okay’ to Shame Religious People Who Oppose Same-Sex Marriage
By Amy Furr, December 7, 2016 5:14 PM EST
(CNSNews.com) -- A gay writer who is planning to marry his partner says that it is no longer acceptable to shame people of faith by labeling them “homophobic” just because they do not support same-sex marriage.
“It is no longer okay – indeed, it never was – to write cutesy articles shaming religious people as homophobic for simply being one of the many millions of Americans in 2016 who attend a religious congregation that does not support same-sex marriage. That is not a good move for activism or journalism,” wrote Brandon Ambrosino in a December 1st oped published by the Washington Post.
Senate Quietly Passes The "Countering Disinformation And Propaganda Act"
by Tyler Durden, Dec 10, 2016 7:13 PM
While we wait to see if and when the Senate will pass (and president will sign) Bill "H.R. 6393, Intelligence Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2017", which was passed by the House at the end of November with an overwhelming majority and which seeks to crack down on websites suspected of conducting Russian propaganda and calling for the US government to "counter active measures by Russia to exert covert influence … carried out in coordination with, or at the behest of, political leaders or the security services of the Russian Federation and the role of the Russian Federation has been hidden or not acknowledged publicly,” another, perhaps even more dangerous and limiting to civil rights and freedom of speech bill passed on December 8.
Recall that as we reported in early June, "a bill to implement the U.S.’ very own de facto Ministry of Truth has been quietly introduced in Congress. As with any legislation attempting to dodge the public spotlight the Countering Foreign Propaganda and Disinformation Act of 2016 marks a further curtailment of press freedom and another avenue to stultify avenues of accurate information. Introduced by Congressmen Adam Kinzinger and Ted Lieu, H.R. 5181 seeks a “whole-government approach without the bureaucratic restrictions” to counter “foreign disinformation and manipulation,” which they believe threaten the world’s “security and stability.”

LGBT Groups Protest FedEx Over NRA Discount
By Jillian Kay Melchior | 10:48 pm, December 20, 2016
Several LGBT-focused organizations that support gun control will demonstrate outside of FedEx stores Wednesday to protest the discount shipping company offers to members of the National Rifle Association.
A deal worked out with FedEx means NRA’s 5 million members can enjoy discounts up to 26 percent.
“This isn’t like a senior discount,” said Igor Volsky, director of Guns Down, a group pushing to decrease the number of guns in the U.S. “This is a discount that empowers and subsidizes an organization that is actively working to make life more dangerous by gutting background checks and allowing guns in schools.”

Christian Grandma Florist Fined for Not Working Gay Wedding Takes 'Last Stand' at Supreme Court

Barronelle Stutzman, also known as the "Christian grandma florist," is now asking the U.S. Supreme Court to hear her appeal to reverse a Washington court's decision earlier this year that found her guilty of discrimination for refusing to provide flowers for a gay wedding.
The Associated Press reported on Sunday that lawyers for Stutzman are claiming that Washington's high court violated her First Amendment protection for artistic expression in its ruling in February.

U.K. gov't demands 'queer theology' in seminaries And for Sunday schools? They must include 'teaching of LGBTI beliefs'
21 Jul 2017, Bob Unruh
An executive agency of the United Kingdom’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office has issued a report recommending that seminaries include “queer theology” in their courses and that even Sunday schools teach “LGBTI beliefs.”
The stunning document, released by Wilton Park, an agency of the Foreign Office, also recommends that the Bible be reinterpreted “to make it compatible with LGBTI ideology.”
The Barnabas Fund, an organization that supports persecuted Christians worldwide, was surprised and more than a little worried.
“The recommendations, if implemented, would massively reverse freedom of religion across the globe,” the group said.

Georgia judge suspended after criticizing anti-Confederate protesters: ‘Leave history alone’
By Jessica Chasmar - The Washington Times - Tuesday, August 15, 2017
A Georgia judge has been suspended after he criticized protesters in Charlottesville, Virginia, and across the country for trying to erase history by removing Confederate-era monuments from public grounds.
Gwinnett County Judge Jim Hinkle, a former longtime mayor of Grayson, on Saturday called Charlottesville protesters seeking the removal of a 1924 statue of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee “snowflakes” who have “no concept of history,” The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.
“It is what it is. Get over it and move on,” Judge Hinkle wrote on Facebook, in part. “Leave history alone - those who ignore history are deemed [sic] to repeat the mistake of the past.”
The Social Media Purge And How It Affects Everyone
by Tyler Durden, Sat, 09/22/2018 - 19:30, Authored by Daisy Luther via The Organic Prepper blog,
Just about every website owner I know is feeling personally victimized by the recent social media purge that has been going on. But here’s an interesting fact: it isn’t, as is widely perceived, just conservative voices that are being silenced. It is dissenting voices.
It’s the voices of critical thinkers whose ideas run the gamut of philosophies who find that they no longer have much in the way of reach.
This social media purge affects everyone, even people who are not on social media. It does so in several ways:
DNC/Socialists, Globalists and Leftist Media all in on silencing Conservatives...
13 states join meeting with DOJ to discuss alleged ‘shadow banning’ on social media
OAN Newsroom, UPDATED 6:34 AM PT — Tues. Sept. 25, 2018
Attorney General Jeff Sessions and the Department of Justice are considering taking action against tech companies for allegedly silencing conservatives and stifling the free trade of ideas.
According to reports released Monday,13 out of 24 invited bipartisan states accepted an invitation to attend the meeting, where they will reportedly discuss possible anti-trust actions against Facebook, Google and Twitter.

The call for assembly comes after Republicans questioned Twitter’s CEO Jack Dorsey over the alleged bias to which he admitted the platform has being predominantly left-leaning.
“We need to constantly show that we are not adding our own bias, which I fully admit is more left-leaning, and I think it’s important to articulate our bias,” stated Dorsey. “But we need to remove all bias from how we act and our policies, and our enforcement.”
Representatives from each of the 13 states will travel to Washington, D.C. to discuss the companies themselves, and ensure online economic competition operates both fairly and transparently.
James Woods banned from Twitter over tweet that 'could impact an election' 'Free speech is free speech - it's not Jack Dorsey's version of free speech'
By Amy Forlitti - Associated Press - Sunday, September 23, 2018
MINNEAPOLIS — Actor James Woods has been locked out of his Twitter account over a tweet he sent out months ago that was found to be in violation of Twitter’s rules.
The tweet was posted July 20 and includes a hoax meme that said it came from Democrats and encouraged men not to vote in the midterm elections. Woods got an email from Twitter on Thursday saying the tweet “has the potential to be misleading in a way that could impact an election.” The email says Woods can use his account again if he deletes the tweet.
In an exclusive interview with The Associated Press on Sunday, Woods said this means he’ll be allowed back on Twitter only if he decides to do what Twitter says and accedes to the social platform’s concept of free speech – not the right to free speech outlined in the Constitution. He says he won’t do that, and he won’t delete the tweet.
Denouncing Facebook’s ‘Soft Censorship’ of Independent News Agencies, Rutherford Institute Warns ‘False News’ Policies Undermine Press Freedom
September 20, 2018
The Rutherford Institute’s letter to Facebook
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — Declaring that the manner in which Facebook has allowed its “false news” labeling policies to be applied to independent news organizations is contrary to the values embodied in the First Amendment, and is wholly inconsistent with standards of fairness and due process, The Rutherford Institute has come to the defense of The Free Thought Project, a news organization that has had several of its news stories wrongly labeled “false news” by Facebook.
In a letter to Facebook, attorneys for The Rutherford Institute warn that the defects in Facebook’s “false news” policies are especially problematic for non-mainstream news sources that are less beholden to corporate interests, are free to report on controversial stories and issues that the mainstream media may shy away from, and depend on the exposure provided by Facebook. Unfortunately, for these very reasons, Institute attorneys note that non-mainstream news agencies are also more likely to be challenged and branded as “fake news” by Facebook, leading to “soft censorship.”
“Facebook, with its commitment to creating a worldwide community for the sharing of information, should have policies that foster and support new generations of journalists,” said constitutional attorney John W. Whitehead, president of The Rutherford Institute and author of Battlefield America: The War on the American People. “Given what is at stake when a news organization has its content deemed ‘fake news’ by Facebook, it is crucial that safeguards be put in place to assure, as much as possible, that a fake news designation is well-founded. Such safeguards do not presently exist. As things stand now, these policies can and are being used to suppress freedom of the press, resulting in a form of soft censorship.”
"Facebook, with its commitment to creating a worldwide community for the sharing of information, should have policies that foster and support new generations of journalists,” said constitutional attorney John W.
In the wake of criticism and threats of government regulation over the prevalence of fake news on social media, Facebook adopted policies intended to stem the flow of false information on its platform. It established a method by which content could be flagged for review and appointed a number of third-parties, such as Snopes and the Associated Press, to act as fact-checkers and make determinations whether content should be labelled as “false news.” Once a story is deemed “false news,” a push notification is sent to all persons who shared the story on social media. Entities found to have published “false news” also suffer a drastic reduction of the distribution of their content and lose the ability to advertise and monetize through Facebook.
In 2018, The Free Thought Project, a website “dedicated to holding those who claim authority over our lives accountable,” had several of its new stories labeled “false news.” One story reported on the discovery of a bunker that a veterans’ group suspected was being used for child trafficking. Another Free Thought report labeled “false news” reported on a U.S. Senator’s attempt to inspect a converted Walmart that was being used to hold refugee children, and made reference to earlier reports speculating about closed Walmarts being used by the government. A third post labeled “false” was simply a shared meme speculating about damage to the Pentagon as a result of the 9/11 attacks. As a result, Facebook imposed restrictions on Free Thought’s content distribution and ability to advertise and monetize.
In coming to Free Thought’s defense, The Rutherford Institute has askedthat Facebook adopt clearly-defined fact-checking policies and practices that respect First Amendment values and ensure fairness to news and information organizations, affording them the due process that fundamental fairness demands.
My name is Laura Loomer. As many of you may have heard, I was permanently banned from Twitter for life on November 21, 2018, and then I was banned for 30 days from Facebook less than 24 hours later, in another example of collusion by tech giants to censor conservative voices.
What was my offense?
Did I spew hateful, violent rhetoric towards anyone as we frequently see leftist celebrities and politicians do online?
Did I post racist comments or call for genocide against a group of people?
Did I incite a riot or call for the President to be assassinated, like Leftists often do on Twitter?
I merely shared a fact. Yes, the truth can now get you banned for life from the Internet, in America, the land of the free, and the only country with a First Amendment right.
Microsoft Teams with Establishment ‘NewsGuard’ to Create News Blacklist
Allum Bokhari, 23 Jan 2019 3:24
Without consulting with its users, Microsoft has installed an establishment media browser extension, purportedly designed to rate the accuracy of news websites, as a default extension on mobile versions of its Edge browser. In practice, it creates a news blacklist by warning users away from sites including Breitbart News, The Drudge Report, and the Daily Mail.
The browser extension, called “Newsguard,” presents users with a red warning label if they navigate to a website that it judges to be unreliable. A “green” rating is given to websites that NewsGuard considers trustworthy.
A number of pro-Trump websites, including Breitbart News, are given a “red” rating by the extension. Breitbart TV Collision That Created The Moon Also Made Life On Earth Possible: Study
The website of the conservative-leaning British newspaper The Daily Mail, which has the third-highest circulation in the U.K., is also given a “red” rating. Newsguard says the site “fails to maintain basic standards of accuracy and accountability.”
WikiLeaks, which has never had to retract a story due to false or misleading information, is also given a “red” rating.
Among the websites given a “green” rating is BuzzFeed, which was recently humiliated for publishing alleged details about the ongoing Mueller investigation that were contradicted by the speial prosecutor himself. BuzzFeed did not retract the story, and even led with it on its frontpage … after Mueller contradicted it.
But in Newsguard’s view, BuzzFeed “regularly corrects or clarifies errors.”
Bokhari: The Terrifying Rise of Financial Blacklisting
Allum Bokhari, 2 Jan 2019
It is the most totalitarian form of blacklisting: not just to be prevented from speaking on a university campus, or to be kicked off social media, but to be shut out of the entire financial system. That is the terrifying new threat to freedom that western societies must now contend with.
Financial blacklisting doesn’t just rob you of a chance to spread your message: it robs you of your ability to do business, your livelihood, your very means of functioning in a capitalist society. Thanks to the encroachment of progressive ideology into the financial industry — including major credit card companies like Visa, Discover, and Mastercard — it has now become a reality.
I first wrote about the rise of financial blacklisting in July, in a column for Breitbart News in which I highlighted the growing tendency of online financial platforms — as well as Visa and MasterCard — to deny service to customers for political reasons. I was surprised to receive a strongly worded comment from the liberal Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF), who bluntly warned that banks and credit card companies had become “de facto internet censors.” That even liberal groups had raised the alarm signaled the seriousness of the problem.

Accepting homosexuality led to accepting transgenderism and will likely lead to accepting pedophilia
Lifesite News, March 1, 2019
In this fallen world, the dialectic process tends to more commonly evolve downward rather than upward. We’re more likely to gravitate toward decadent practices than to noble changes such as the abolition of slavery. For example, many predict that the next sexual taboo to be normalized will be pedophilia. And we can only imagine the depths such regressions will reach from there.
Those of us who understand the differences between cultural progress and the normalization of dangerous aberrations need to educate our neighbors before it’s too late. We must understand this phenomenon sufficiently to explain it to others. Then we must be willing to weather criticisms, invectives, and even punishment as we warn, educate, and defend against the normalization of dangerous deviancies.
Conservatives face a tough fight as Big Tech's censorship expands
By Donald Trump Jr., opinion contributor — 03/17/19 06:00 PM EDT
As Big Tech’s censorship of conservatives becomes ever more flagrant and overt, the old arguments about protecting the sanctity of the modern public square are now invalid. Our right to freely engage in public discourse through speech is under sustained attack, necessitating a vigorous defense against the major social media and internet platforms.
From “shadowbans” on Facebook and Twitter, to demonetization of YouTube videos, to pulled ads for Republican candidates at the critical junctures of election campaigns, the list of violations against the online practices and speech of conservatives is long.
I certainly had my suspicions confirmed when Instagram, which is owned by Facebook, “accidentally” censored a post I made regarding the Jussie Smollett hoax, which consequently led to me hearing from hundreds of my followers about how they've been having problems seeing, liking or being able to interact with my posts. Many of them even claimed that they've had to repeatedly refollow me, as Instagram keeps unfollowing me on their accounts.
While nothing about Big Tech's censorship of conservatives truly surprises me anymore, it's still chilling to see the proof for yourself. If it can happen to me, the son of the president, with millions of followers on social media, just think about how bad it must be for conservatives with smaller followings and those who don't have the soapbox or media reach to push back when they're being targeted?
Goodbye to the Internet: Interference by Governments Is Already Here
Philip M. GIRALDI, 21.03.2019
There is a saying attributed to the French banker Nathan Rothschild that "Give me control of a nation's money and I care not who makes its laws." Conservative opinion in the United States has long suspected that Rothschild was right and there have been frequent calls to audit the Federal Reserve Bank based on the presumption that it has not always acted in support of the actual interests of the American people. That such an assessment is almost certainly correct might be presumed based on the 2008 economic crash in which the government bailed out the banks, which had through their malfeasance caused the disaster, and left individual Americans who had lost everything to face the consequences.
Be that as it may, if there were a modern version of the Rothschild comment it might go something like this: “Give me control of the internet and no one will ever more know what is true.” The internet, which was originally conceived of as a platform for the free interchange of information and opinions, is instead inexorably becoming a managed medium that is increasingly controlled by corporate and government interests. Those interests are in no way answerable to the vast majority of the consumers who actually use the sites in a reasonable and non-threatening fashion to communicate and share different points of view.
The United States Congress started the regulation ball rolling when it summoned the chief executives of the leading social media sites in the wake of the 2016 election. It sought explanations regarding why and how the Russians had allegedly been able to interfere in the election through the use of fraudulent accounts to spread information that might have influenced some voters. In spite of the sound and fury, however, all Congress succeeded in doing was demonstrating that the case against Moscow was flimsy at best while at the same creating a rationale for an increased role in censoring the internet backed by the threat of government regulation.
Well gee whiz, never saw this one coming /massive sarc.
Facebook, Google, Yahoo, Amazon and a host of others, need to be broken up and banned from collaboration with any Government entity... They are already neck deep in the governments ass and burrowing deeper every year.
Facebook’s new chief lawyer helped write the Patriot Act ‘Jennifer is a seasoned leader whose global perspective and experience will help us fulfill our mission,’ says Sheryl Sandberg
By Russell Brandom Apr 22, 2019, 6:12pm EDT
Jennifer Newstead, a Trump appointee who served in the Justice Department under President Bush, will soon be taking over as general counsel of Facebook, the company announced in a press release on Monday afternoon. Newstead will take over from Colin Stretch, who announced plans to retire last year.
“Jennifer is a seasoned leader whose global perspective and experience will help us fulfill our mission,” Sheryl Sandberg said in a statement included with the release.
But many are already troubled by Newstead’s history lobbying and legislating for more powerful electronic surveillance. As The Hill points out, a 2002 Justice Department press release describes her as “helping craft” the legislation. Notorious Bush administration lawyer John Yoo described her as the “day-to-day manager of the Patriot Act in Congress” in his 2006 book.
