Federal Court Rejects Campus Carry Challenge
1:52 PM 08/17/2018, Molly Prince
A federal court upheld a prior dismissal of a challenge to Texas’s campus carry law Thursday, providing individuals with a concealed carry permit the ability to carry a firearm on public university property.
The U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals rejected to revive the lawsuit by three University of Texas at Austin professors, upholding a 2015 law that the trio challenged in July 2016, yet was ultimately dismissed.
The professors claimed that the aforementioned law would violate an individual’s constitutional rights of free speech, due process and equal protection and would “have a substantial chilling effect on class discussion.” (RELATED: Liberal Court Rules The Second Amendment Protects The Right To Openly Carry A Firearm)
The three-judge panel rejected the assertion, arguing that there is not proof of any impending harm to rationalize such fears.

Florida Launches Gun Confiscation Program, 467 Forced To Surrender Guns
by Tyler Durden, Tue, 07/31/2018 - 23:53
More than 467 people in Florida have been ordered by the government to surrender their firearms since March under a new law passed after the deadly Parkland shooting in February, according to a local ABC broadcaster.
The Risk Protection Order, is a “Red Flag” law that Florida Gov. Rick Scott (R) signed several weeks after former student Nikolas Cruz killed 17 people at Stoneman Douglas High School in March, allows the local government to disarm the civilian population if a judge determines they are a threat to themselves or others.

Forbes: Gun Owners Find It Hard To Be Reasonable
Posted at 2:00 pm on July 31, 2018 by Tom Knighton
I don’t expect much fair treatment from the media. As a gun owner and writer, I look at my colleagues in the mainstream media not so much as colleagues, but as the opposition. Typically, they’ll paint someone like me as anything but a decent human being, so it’s understandable why.
However, Forbes recently did a story about how difficult it is for reasonable gun owners to deal with what they see as unreasonable anti-gunners.
