IRS Finds 6,400 Lois Lerner Emails But Won't Hand Em OverBy Gerri Willis, Published June 15, 2015 The Internal Revenue Service may have found 6,400 emails from Lois Lerner, who oversaw the tax agency’s Exempt Organizations Unit, but they aren’t sharing and their excuse is priceless! Attorneys from the Department of Justice representing the IRS say the emails won’t be shared because the service is making sure that none of them are duplicates. Lerner is at the center of a scandal in which the tax agency denied special tax status to conservative groups. Her emails have been sought by members of Congress and conservative groups alike. One of those groups, Judicial Watch, has been seeking emails as part of a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request filed two years ago. Originally, the IRS said the email trail was permanently lost because the computer drive that contained it crashed. However, the Treasury Department’s Inspector General for Tax Administration or TIGTA, was able to retrieve 6,400 emails which it has subsequently sent to the agency. It is these emails that the IRS wants to check for duplicates. www.foxbusiness.com/industries/2015/06/15/irs-finds-6400-lois-lerner-emails-but-wont-hand-em-over/

IRS' Latest Email Excuse Draws It Closer To Rogue Agency StatusIBD, 06/16/2015 06:58 PM ET Lawlessness: On Day 768 of the IRS scandal targeting political dissidents, the tax agency said it has more emails to release. Only it can't release them until September because it must ensure there are no duplicates. Baloney. Missing yet another court-ordered deadline on June 12, the Internal Revenue Service has failed to release 6,400 new emails found on the hard drive of Lois Lerner, former tax exempt organization chief, pertaining to the agency's admitted targeting of administration critics. The agency is being investigated by Congress and scrutinized by the group Judicial Watch. news.investors.com/ibd-editorials/061615-757607-irss-latest-email-excuse-draws-it-closer-to-rogue-agency-status.htm

Another harshly worded letter is on the way, it should arrive in a couple years... House Republicans Considering Impeachment of IRS Head over Stonewalling in Lois Lerner Investigationby Joel Gehrke June 24, 2015 9:28 PM Agency destroyed e-mails after telling Congress they couldn’t be found. House Republicans investigating the IRS’s targeting of tea-party groups are seriously considering an effort to impeach IRS commissioner John Koskinen or other agency employees for “culpable misdemeanors” pertaining to the destruction of e-mails written by Lois Lerner, the former official at the heart of the scandal. “We’ve briefed the leadership’s counsel, and I think that they’re open to it, but it’s the type of thing where this town is like, ‘oh, that’s not how we do things, it’s not really been used lately,’” a Republican member of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee says. “But, quite frankly, we really haven’t had executive branch officials behave this way like we do now.” www.nationalreview.com/article/420277/irs-scandal-house-republicans-impeaching-commissioner-koskinen
