A former CEO banned from all company facilities? Hmm, gotta be an interesting backstory in there somewhere. Documents point to 'smart gun' developer's ouster at ArmatixDavid Codrea, Gun Rights Examiner, May 7, 2015 1:46 PM MST A balance sheet appearing on a German government website for Armatix GmbH, the German company behind the controversial iP1 “smart” handgun, shows significant financial losses. Further, a German journalist has provided Gun Rights Examiner with documents purporting to show gun developer and Managing Director Ernst Mauch is not only no longer with the company, but that he has been banned from its facilities under threat of a criminal complaint. Controversy surrounding Armatix has been ongoing due to widespread mistrust of substituting technological add-ons for competent human operator gun retention techniques, concerns about adding electronic complexity to mechanical systems that could increase failure rates, and the fear that states will require personalized lock-outs for civilian-owned firearms. That such guns were initially developed as a response to police being killed with their own service weapons in “takeaway” incidents, and that proposed and enacted laws exempt them, adds to the mistrust. So do developments allowing for police to remotely shut off devices. www.examiner.com/article/documents-point-to-smart-gun-developer-s-ouster-at-armatix

Smart Gun Company Touted By Democrats Files Chapter 11-Style Restructuringby AWR Hawkins, 24 May 2015 On May 20, smart gun manufacturer Armatix admitted they have entered into “chapter 11-style restructuring proceedings in Germany.” Armatix makes the iP1 smart gun, which Democrats raved about and pushed to mandate as the only gun that could legally be sold in New Jersey in 2014. Democrats were joined in this effort by gun control groups like the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence. www.breitbart.com/big-government/2015/05/24/smart-gun-company-touted-by-democrats-files-chapter-11-style-restructuring/
