Better late than never...
Congress to probe lethal crash that killed SEAL Team 6 members
By Bob Cusack - 07/24/13 05:00 AM ET
Congress has launched an investigation of the helicopter crash that killed 30 Americans in Afghanistan, including members of the Navy's elite SEAL Team 6 unit, The Hill has learned. [WATCH VIDEO]
The victims' families say the Pentagon hasn't provided answers to their many questions about the deadly attack, which took place on Aug. 6, 2011, three months after Osama bin Laden was killed in Pakistan by Team 6 forces.

July 18, 2013, By Pamela Geller
The Vaughns have exposed the delusional U.S. military "rules of engagement" policy that led to the takedown of a Chinook helicopter, Extortion 17, by the Taliban. All 38 people on board the Chinook -- 15 SEAL Team Six members (including Aaron Vaughn) and seven Afghan National Army commandos -- were killed. The attack on Extortion 17 came just three months after the Osama bin Laden kill, and both Obama and Biden had identified the team that took OBL out. Retribution was inevitable.

By Jude Eden, Jane of Trades
"Before there was Benghazi, there was Extortion 17." These are the chilling opening words spoken by Billy Vaughn, the broken-hearted father of Navy SEAL Aaron Vaughn. Aaron was one of 17 Navy SEALs, almost 30 American servicemen in total, killed when their archaic Chinook helicopter was shot down over a raging battle in Afghanistan on August 6, 2011. To have lost their sons in war is tragic enough, but as they discovered the very dubious circumstances surrounding the operation and the subsequent deception and cover-up by the military under the Obama administration, a truly gut-wrenching and highly suspicious picture emerged. Several families of the fallen, military experts, elected representatives and concerned others gave a press conference at the National Press Club in Washington D.C. on May 9th, 2013.

KUHNER: Who betrayed Navy SEAL Team 6?Congress must discover how they were marked for deathBy Jeffrey T. Kuhner, The Washington Times, Friday, August 9, 2013 What really happened to Navy SEAL Team 6? In August 2011, the elite special forces unit suffered the worst battlefield calamity in its history. A Taliban fighter shot down a Chinook helicopter carrying 22 Navy SEAL Team 6 members in Afghanistan. All 38 persons on board -- the Navy SEAL warriors, other U.S. military personnel and seven Afghan soldiers -- were killed. Grieving family members have been demanding answers. They may now get some as Congress finally opens an investigation. www.washingtontimes.com/news/2013/aug/9/kuhner-who-betrayed-navy-seal-team-6/?utm_source=feedly

The Shocking True Story of Extortion 17 as told by a Navy SEAL’s FatherJohn Ransom, Nov 10, 2013 There was a time when America’s Commander-In-Chief held a certain poise, a refinement of manner, a humble je ne sais quoi. And nothing could be more important to the families of America’s soldiers than assurance that the lives of their sons and daughters are valued above everything except the liberty they defend. Aaron Carson Vaughn, a member of the elite SEAL Team VI special forces once wrote a note of assurance to his concerned parents about his chain of command saying, “They won’t let me die.” finance.townhall.com/columnists/johnransom/2013/11/10/the-shocking-true-story-of-extortion-17-as-told-by-a-navy-seals-father-n1743931Historical: Obama's SEAL Team 6 CoverupMay 30, 2013 by Kris Zane On August 6, 2011, a military helicopter-- Extortion 17-- carrying thirty-eight men (including twenty-five of the elite SEAL Team 6, five National Guard and Army Reserve, and eight Afghan commandos) was shot down over Taliban-controlled territory in eastern Afghanistan. They had been on a top secret mission to take out a high-value target. It was the worst loss of life in a single day since the war in Afghanistan began. Per a 1250-page military report, it was simply the result of a "lucky shot" by Taliban soldiers perched on top of a building. Per families of those killed and military experts at a press conference held on May 9, 2013, this is a lie among a host of other lies. www.westernjournalism.com/obamas-seal-team-6-coverup/U.S. Government's Secret Move To Hide Files On The Osama Bin Laden RaidSubmitted by Tyler Durden on 07/08/2013 22:31 -0400 Submitted by Michael Krieger via Liberty Blitzkrieg blog, The Osama Bin Laden raid was suspect from the very beginning. Not only were key initial descriptions of the assault completely incorrect (such as him being armed and his wife being killed), but the manner in which his body was rapidly tossed into the ocean was beyond bizarre. I mean, Tony Soprano keeps a body longer than that. Well it seems the "most transparent administration ever" has made sure that the American public never receives any information beyond the propaganda of Zero Dark Thirty. Video: Parents of fallen SEAL demand Obama resignationposted at 2:01 pm on September 2, 2014 by Ed Morrissey Tough words from Billy and Karen Vaughn, whose only son Aaron gave his life in a 2011 crash of a SEAL Team Six Chinook helicopter in Afghanistan, perhaps in the shootdown shortly after the mission that killed Osama bin Laden. For years, Barack Obama relied on the success of the bin Laden mission to make the argument that he could lead the nation in war. Now the Vaughns accuse Obama of “a cowardly lack of leadership,” and demand his resignation over the administration’s failure to stop ISIS when it had opportunities to do so: hotair.com/archives/2014/09/02/video-parents-of-fallen-seal-demand-obama-resignation/

Billy Vaughn, father of Navy SEAL Aaron Vaughn, who was among 30 who died in 2011 when their Chinook helicopter was shot down in Afghanistan, told J.D. Hayworth on "America's Forum" on Newsmax TV Wednesday that what the families were initially told about why the helicopter was shot down later turned out to be a lie. www.newsmax.com/Newsmax-Tv/SEAL-Team-6-Billy-Vaughn/2014/09/03/id/592390/?ns_mail_uid=8701546&ns_mail_job=1584457_09042014&s=al&dkt_nbr=doijwt7h

Obama stonewalls SEAL Team 6 helicopter crash probe, watchdog saysBy Rowan Scarborough, The Washington Times, Wednesday, August 5, 2015 The Obama administration is violating a judge’s order to turn over documents in the Aug. 6, 2011, shootdown of a U.S. helicopter — call sign Extortion 17 — that killed members of SEAL Team 6 in Afghanistan, a watchdog group is charging. On the fourth anniversary of the worst one-day loss of military life in the war on terror, families of the dead say they are aghast that the government will not honor basic requests under the Freedom of Information Act. “It has now been four years since Extortion 17 was shot down,” said Doug Hamburger, whose Army air crew son, Patrick, was one of the 30 Americans killed. “I find it quite disturbing that the government is not willing to give us the answers we deserve. I find it very irritating that we will not question the Afghans about their knowledge of what took place that night.” www.washingtontimes.com/news/2015/aug/5/obama-stonewalls-seal-team-6-extortion-17-helicopt/?page=all#pagebreak

A retired Air Force captain says Pentagon covered up real cause of deadly chopper crashby Sara A. Carter, April 18, 2017 A decorated retired Air Force officer who witnessed one of the most deadly attacks on Navy SEALs in U.S. history is breaking her silence, saying the government covered up evidence detailing that the 2011 downing of a Chinook helicopter gunship that killed 38 fighters in Afghanistan could have been prevented had it not been for restrictions to the military's rules of engagement that were changed under the Obama administration. The mission August 6, 2011: Retired Air Force Capt. Joni Marquez and her crew were working the dark morning hours aboard an AC-130 gunship after being summoned to a mission she describes “as almost like a 9-1-1 type of a situation.” The gunship was ordered to fly close-in air support above Afghanistan’s dangerous Tangi Valley, in Wardak Province, assisting troops with the Army’s 75th Ranger Regiment who were being fired on by eight heavily armed Taliban insurgents. The Rangers had called in for assault helicopters to engage the enemy hiding among the rocky valley. The air weapons team fired on the Taliban fighters, but not all of the insurgents were killed as originally believed. circa.com/politics/retired-air-force-captain-says-attack-on-extortion-17-could-have-been-prevented

Hmm, women in combat and now 'children' in ST6? The families of Extortion 17 want Trump to review ROEs to prevent future tragediesby Sara A. Carter, April 20, 2017 In early August, 2011 Mary Ann Strange heard a sound she would never forget and could never describe. She pulled into her driveway, parked the car and ran into her home. It was there she saw her 6 foot plus husband, Charlie Strange, on his knees. The sound of Charlie's wailing could not be contained in their middle-class Philadelphia home but tore through the Autumn wind as he came to terms with the death of his son. Before Mary Ann arrived home, Charlie Strange had just been told by the military that his child, Michael, a Cryptologic Technician and Petty Officer (Collection) First Class assigned to SEAL Team 6, had just been killed in Afghanistan... circa.com/politics/the-families-of-extortion-17-want-trump-to-review-roes-to-prevent-future-tragedies
