I am really torn these days.
I swore my oath to the US Constitution and I pledge allegiance to the flag and the Republic for which it stands. Twenty-six years I spent in her defense. And I believe in "my country, right or wrong".
Revolt and insurrection are not part of our national psyche, no matter what the Left would teach our children in our government schools to believe. Nor is our government to be changed for light and transient causes. I view the Socialist takeover of our government, our culture and our nation to be the gravest domestic threat - which my oath covers.
I am making some agonizing, and hard decisions. My wedding is next week; how will my new family be involved? The Bride is already hanging on my every word and fully supporting our preparations. I fear it will actually take witnessing The Collapse in real-time to turn the kids around.

I believe in "my country, right or wrong". Not I, said the blind man. (One of my mother's favorite sayings)

Sarge Your point is extremely important. we are much alike in this and it is what makes our days and some nights very hard. We swore an oath to a constitution that we don't understand due to what we have been taught. This is because we swore that oath in honesty, truthfulness, and a heart felt love of our nation. However that nation is not what we were told it was. This nation today, and probably since before we were born, is not a republic of x number states. It is a Corporation claiming to be a democracy. The flag it flies has been flown over the bodies of thousands of soldiers, sailors, and marines, and Air Force patriots who died not in the defense of this nation, but in the battles to guarantee certain corporations the right to do business in foreign lands and to profit from our bloodshed. Last week they killed two ex-Seals and a marine in Libya and tried to blame it on a movie. Just as they called a 24 foot fishing boat a naval vessle in the Gulf of Tonkin in Vietnam. The problem is that when honest men are confronted with dishonest leaders it kills the morale, so too does the knowledge that you have been used by those who will never fight to further their personal fortunes. The time is not to secede, and give them the pleasure of killing our families and neighbors, but to hound them out and bring them to justice. The day is short before their line runs out. From what I can determine the active duty military is on our side. There are many who have stated and told their leaders that if martial law is declared they will be going home with their weapons, equipment and all the ammo they can carry. This is why Obama is sending Guard, Reserve, and active duty all around the world. He hopes will have better luck with his new police forces. It is our job to begin looking about us and determining who in our local LEO are for the people, and how many are for Obama. We need to watch for the houses with the large groups of young folks who will rise on his orders and provide the need for Martial law. We all need to stop by our local Sheriff's office and let him know we are there if he needs us. He may be a Butt hole, and a liar, but he is what stands between our families and the Obama Goon squads. The local police are just collection agents with guns. Good guys but with no power. I lost many friends defending this nation, and I will lose more when TSHTF, but I will not turn it over to the likes of the Elected Felons we have in Washington. It is time to organize not disperse.

You must know what you are fighting for, to be victorious... So grab your copy of the Constitution, open it, read it again, and get back to your foxhole. One of the things I have done at every rally I have attended, is to pass out the Pocket Constitutions, so people remember what we are fighting for. Oh, and if your headed to a rally somewhere: www.nccs.net/us_constitution.html

I will defend the Republic, the Constitution guarantees each citizen, and every state. Some would pervert that, and they are enemies of the Constitution and of me. I don't care what position they hold, if you are acting against the Constitution, I will fight you, and I will find a way to win. Right now I am fighting at the ballot box, but that doesn't mean I am not preparing to fight. "we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender." I know it was Churchill, and he was half Brit, but it does seem to fit, and maybe it was a little of the American Spirit, from his mother, coming out of him.

Ole Sarge, I never really thought of Secession much. We are 50 states that make up our Nation, well L&P & others has helped me do some soul searching & understanding, that seceding is not turning my back on the Constitution.
In fact our Oaths obligates us to protect her, so if it takes one, two, five or 20 states to secede in order to regain our Republic, Constitution & our Sovereignty as a Nation then so be it.
If it takes secession to stop the parasite of corruption then let the good times role. Our Oath is to that Constitution my friend, not to the Flag. The Flag is just the representation of what we once were. A Nation of Liberty, Rights & Freedom, which is being stripped from us.
Our Flag no longer represents that, it is just a reminder of what we once was, but We the People can rectify this problem.
You, we would not be abandoning what your beliefs are or your Oath, we would only be enforcing them.
Another thought is, it would almost be impossible to clean up the corruption & Commie's in 50 states at once & will be easier with a few states at a time.

History has so distorted the truth about secession that now even the mention of it invokes a rebuke that only a lunatic or a traitor would even approach such a subject. The truth is that in the early 1800's it was the northeastern secessionist movement lead by Timothy Pickering that gained ground as many prominent men of the northeastern states did not feel that they interests could be reconciled with those of the South and the growing western territories. The movement gained ground for nearly a decade but ultimately failed in 1814 at the Harford Secession Convention. Many in the north still believed in the right to secession in 1861 but it was the money interests of the industrial North behind Lincoln that dictated the policy of the day. In his inaugural address in 1801 Jefferson validated the right of secession. Jefferson and Madison in the Virginia and Kentucky resolutions legitimized nullification which is in and of itself a form of secession. Know your true history and there is no doubt that secession is not only Constitutional it is the right of any people to remove themselves from a union voluntarily entered into. Many of these points are touched upon in the article linked below but go to the original sources yourself and read what was written. At the PATCON I donated "Rethinking The American Union for the 21st Century" by Donald Livingston and it is well worth the read. It can be bought at Amazon for around $17.00. Listen to Mike Church's "What Lincoln Killed Episode 1." Do not accept what has been taught for decades as the gospel truth. Research it and at least embrace the concept as a possible viable alternative. Two lines I remember from "Braveheart" remain with me: "I shall tell you of William Wallace. Historians from England will say I am a liar, but history is written by those who have hanged heroes." "Aye, fight and you may die. Run, and you'll live... at least a while. And dying in your beds, many years from now, would you be willin' to trade ALL the days, from this day to that, for one chance, just one chance, to come back here and tell our enemies that they may take our lives, but they'll never take... OUR FREEDOM!" RESIST... www.lewrockwell.com/orig/dilorenzo2.htmllewrockwell.com/dilorenzo/dilorenzo228.htmlwww.mikechurch.com/news/david-simpsons-review-of-what-lincoln-killed/

From the review... mises.org/daily/6029/Rethinking-the-American-Union"For the contributors to this book, secession is not an issue confined to the past. They regard it as an essential remedy for the ills of today's overly large America. In this connection it is interesting to note that secession had the backing of the renowned American diplomat and historian George Kennan, who, in a manner that would have delighted Thomas Jefferson, called for America to be broken up into a number of regional commonwealths. "To begin the debate, and without being dogmatic, Kennan suggests that the Union could be divided into 'a dozen constituent republics'" (pp. 21–22)."

William Wallace would be proud... The World Scotland countdown to secession poll SCOTLAND has formally begun a two-year to a referendum on breaking up the UK, with independence campaigners banking on a surge of Scottish nationalism during the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. British Prime Minister David Cameron last night signed off on the holding of a referendum in the weeks after the Glasgow Games, where local athletes will compete under a Scottish flag, unlike at the London Olympics where they were part of "Great Britain" or "Team GB". The agreement between the Mr Cameron and Alec Salmond, the pro-independence First Minister of Scotland, is a historic move, as the 5.25 million people living in Scotland will have the chance to undo the 1707 Treaty of Union that merged the kingdoms of England and Scotland. Lengthy bartering between the two governments over the past eight months saw Mr Salmond win the right to control the timing of the ballot and he promptly rejected Mr Cameron's call for the referendum to be held as soon as possible www.theaustralian.com.au/news/world/scottish-referendum-comes-under-fire/story-e6frg6so-1226496592280

The soveriegn state of New Hampshire and how it deals with representation of its citizens. The book rightly makes the claim that the United States has long lost its ability to consider itself a representative form of government. A stated below it would take 99,000 congressmen to give the same representation as the State of NH. That being said the Republic as it was meant to be was lost some time ago... "The New Hampshire House of Representatives is the lower house in the New Hampshire General Court. The House of Representatives consists of 400 members coming from 103 districts across the state, created from divisions of the state's counties. On average, each legislator represents about 3,300 residents. If the same level of representation were present in the U.S. Congress, that body would have approximately 99,000 members, according to current population estimates. Members are paid a salary of $200 per biennium, as are New Hampshire State Senators." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Hampshire_House_of_Representatives
